The youngest son from Step by Step. (can't remember his name)

The irony is that about halfway through the show a baby was added. There was 1 episode where the kids discussed their feelings about the new baby. The youngest son mentioned that he was afraid he wasn't going to be forgotten. Then in the final season, he disappeared with no mention. The new baby girl was aged.

I never saw the Doris Day show, but I read that her 2 sons disappeared.

Lucy Carmichael's kids on The Lucy Show, Chris and Jerry, disappeared after the third season. There were a few mentions (one even with the wrong name) and that was it.

Vint's son and daughter from his first marriage, Buzz and Sonja, disappeared after the second season of Mama's Family. There was a brief mention on the first episode of the third season, and that was it.

This really doesn't fit this thread, but on Everybody Loves Raymond, 98% of the episodes, the kids might as well have disappeared. On most episodes all they did was run through the living room screaming once in awhile.

Like Ray Romano said on the intros to earlier episodes, "It's not about the kids."

Currently on 'MOM', the kids are rarely on or mentioned anymore.

How about Richie from the Dick Van Dyke Show. I think he only existed because it was 1961 and it would have been weird for a couple married several years to not have a kid, but the kid wasnt needed since it was basically a work-com and adults coming over to the Petries because they were all talented.

That was Henry. But at least Henry got mentioned in a lot of episodes even though the character wasn't seen any longer, still a bit strange. The reason for that was Jake Burbage (the boy who played Henry) his parents decided to move from Los Angeles back east to New Jersey if I remember, where they were originally from. But I thought it was good the writers and producers kept Henry being mentioned in episodes and didn't try to act like he never existed.
