View Full Version : Should I write to Joseph Campanella?
counrfk 07-23-2017, 11:57 PM He is still living and in his 90s. I would love to tell him how much I enjoyed him in this show. I watched a few episodes of the game show "Tattletales" where Joe and his wife Jill were guests. He seems like such a genuinely nice man. He seemed a lot like Ed Cooper on that show, but more laid back and not domineering. I found an address online that said you could write to, and if you included a self-addressed envelope you could get an autograph. Hopefully it's still current. Should I write?

Great idea. :)
I am sure he would love to hear from his fans.

Definitely. And quickly.

The site said it might take about 3 months to get an autograph back. An autograph from him would be great!

Well, he is in his 90s. Hard to think of Ed Cooper at that age! Wow, he outlived Ann by a mile!
You are so bad...
I prefer to think of it as realistic.

Oh yes!!! By all means write to him!!!:) That would be very sweet!!;)

Hard to tell. It obviously was at one point for his representation , but IMDB says his last job was in 2009, so you never know. I think all you can do is try.
Anna Karenina 07-24-2017, 12:32 AM I think I will write to him too.
He seems like a wonderful man.
I wonder if he and Bonnie Franklin got along though.
Bonniegirl 07-24-2017, 12:35 AM You are so bad...

If you watch him on "Tattletales", Joe seems like such a laid back, gentle, nice guy. Bonnie always seemed nice too. I bet they got along.

Which could explain how he missed Hot in Cleveland, which started in 2010. Maybe by then it was getting too strenuous for him.

I looked up that attorney, and it's the same address.

Then why did he have such a short shelf life on the show? I am not saying it was her doing but just wondering....
They didn't even mention him once after the wedding of Babs and Mark. Seemed kind of weird that he didn't rate a mention on the last Christmas episode when Mark's mother and Max's father did. :(
And I wanted to see more of Vicki as well. She was a great character.
But we got Bob Morton over and over again, he even showed up at Shake Hands at the Bell for seemingly NO reason whatsoever.
Anna Karenina 07-24-2017, 12:47 AM Well, I am off like a prom dress.
Goodnight Everyone!

In 2016 Joe was selling his house

Maybe it had to do with his busy schedule doing other shows.

Oh sure, you become a forum celebrity and immediately start talking down to us little people
counrfk 07-24-2017, 01:15 AM I think I'll mail a letter this week and pray for a response. If I get something back, I just hope that it's genuinely him.

The more Michael pics. Like "Spider Max" The more the Little people status goes up!!! ;) :D
counrfk 07-24-2017, 01:50 AM I looked in various places online. In some places it says that Joseph Campanella was born in 1924. Other places says 1927. And one said 1933. How old is he for sure???

Did you ever write the letter? Have you heard anything back?:) Where have you been lately Counrfk ?
Anna Karenina 08-23-2017, 03:37 PM Yes, I want to know too.

He seems to show up when you least expect him...he appears in "Stick 'em Up" in Season 7, but it was shot at the end of Season 6's production block. (The hold overs due to the writers and actor strikes) and it aired after Barbara started dating Mark! Should have been slotted in earlier. Barbara's Birthday and Mark's not there...
So an appearance he shot during Season 6's block aired after an appearance he shot in Season 7's production block!
139. 7- 3 0702 25 Oct 81 Shake Hands at the Bell
148. 7-12 0624 24 Jan 82 Stick 'em Up
Those couple seasons with the hold-overs make watching the show interesting 3 were held over from 6 into 7 (Note that Show 0622 aired as the last episode of season 7 - almost a year later - "It's in the Cards") and 2 shot for Season 7 aired early in Season 8.
(BTW, Clearly Glenn was signed for a multi-year contract as he appears in some of the carry over episodes, including both of the Season 7 shot ones, and at least one of Season 6 carried into 7 - "Airport" shot 0623 - so they did they always plan on keeping him after Ron was written out?)

Family Ties had some holdover episodes too. Do you know why the networks do this? Were the shows that they held over considered to be lesser in quality?  I think it messes up the continuity of the show.
Poor Ron.
He really got the short end of the stick no matter how you slice it. :(
