Nowadays I have noticed that anytime you want to order a birthday cake from a supermarket I've noticed that the prices for birthday cakes have become expensive and I would like to know when this started happening? Is it because the more stuff you add to the birthday cake it becomes more expensive to order? Take for instance when Mom got her birthday cake today she noticed that the first cake she ordered had chocolate frosting and was chocolate flavored and had the wrong color of frosting and the wrong color on the border as well but then she returned it to get another cake when she asked to put frosting roses they gave her a limit of six roses but additional roses costed money and when Mom told me about it I'd never heard of supermarkets doing such a thing when ordering a birthday cake. It used to be that when you ordered a birthday cake from a supermarket the frosting roses and flowers were free with the cake and if you made a character birthday cake for your kids the figurines and other decorations were also free. And now with people having to pay for decorations for a birthday cake will birthday cakes be expensive to order now? Has your local supermarkets starting charging big bucks for birthday cakes?

I agree with you and have been wondering for years why cakes are so expensive.
Maybe it is like being a surgeon/specialist and you have to go to college and get your cake baking/decorating degree.
