Jared Padalecki, who turns 35, continues to star on Supernatural and appeared on one episode of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Today is Jared Padalecki’s 40th birthday. Padalecki grew up in Texas and was a speech champion in high school. He made his acting debut in the 1999 feature A Little Inside.

Padalecki is best known for his 15-season run starring on The CW’s dark fantasy/drama series Supernatural. He played Sam Winchester, the younger of two brothers who specialized in hunting all manner of creatures who were, you guessed it, supernatural.

Before he began hunting demons, ghosts, and whatnot, Padalecki appeared regularly on Gilmore Girls as Dean Forester, one of Rory’s love interests. He started as a recurring character, became a regular for seasons 2 and 3, and then returned to recurring status before moving over to Supernatural in 2005.

In the mid-2000s, Padalecki had several feature film roles. He costarred in New York Minute, an Olsen twins vehicle from 2004, and had a small role in the remake of Flight of the Phoenix. He also appeared in several horror films, including House of Wax, Cry Wolf, and the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th.

Padalecki returned to the role of Dean Forester for an appearance on Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. He currently stars in the title role of The CW’s Walker, a reboot of the 1990s CBS series. Walker returns for a third season this fall.
