Okay, kicking off season 7 tonight. First segment was the iceman. Not sure if this has been discussed on here or not. But I'm curious what others think. It strikes me as odd that with this occurring in the late 60s, there still aren't any good photos of the thing. Honestly, I can barely make anything out of the actual photos shown. Certainly nothing as clear and sharp as the reenactment. I know that photos of this time wouldn't be anything close to high def, but cameras were decent then. Of course it sounds like folks were not allowed to take photos, but that rarely stops anyone.

What strikes me as odd is that while this is likely a fake side show attraction, the fact that Frank Hansen hightailed it out of town the night before the police were coming back with medical examiners to view the attraction, does give it some credibility.

The experts who saw it at the time apparently concluded it was real due to some exposed tissue at the edges of the ice.

Then the item disappears for a short time. Frank Hansen suddenly pops up with a replica of the body, which witnesses say was obviously fake compared to the original.

Fast forward to 2013 and the thing ends up on eBay, which I guess is now in an oddity museum in Texas. I can't find that any scientific study has been done since 2013, which to supports it being fake. If this thing popped back up and was real, seems like the scientific community would be all over it. However, there are some decent photos (although very few), of this one.

So, was it real originally and then replaced by a replica? Was it always fake and perhaps just reposed or refrozen to appear more fake so there would be less trouble with the authorities? And what of the eBay auction? Was it the original or the replica? Or was it a hoax upon a hoax, meaning was the eBay item a replica of the original (body or fake body)?

I just can't decide on this one.

Anyone? Any thoughts?

Stolen remains would be my best guess. There's the case of Elmer McCurdy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elmer_McCurdy) (Autopsy did a segment on him that's on a site), an outlaw whose body was part of traveling carnivals for decades.

Anyone who thinks this thing is real is an absolute moron.

While I am not sure on this one myself, I think there is enough here that it is jumping the gun to call anyone a "moron" for thinking one way or another on it.

I doubt it was the "missing link" or anything, but I think evidence does point to it being a real body of sorts. At least at the beginning. If for no other reason than the portions of flesh that were exposed from the ice and giving off a "dead" smell.

The eBay auction and exhibit by Frank Hansen after authorities got involved was likely just as they said, a replica. But I can't help but wonder if it was a stolen body, a murder victim, etc, that was doctored to look as it did.
