My memory fails me given that it's been years since I've seen every episode. I seem to remember the Romanos and Coopers being Catholic. If so, which episode(s) confirms this?

Off the top of my head 'J.C and Julie' , 'Ave Romano' and the fact Barbara was married in a church. counrfk 07-13-2017, 10:23 PM Off the top of my head 'J.C and Julie' , 'Ave Romano' and the fact Barbara was married in a church. It was mentioned in "J.C. and Julie"? Bonniegirl 07-13-2017, 11:35 PM Ann was for SURE!!!!!;) Well of course being Ann's Dad was Italian, Italians are Catholic !;) Ed wasn't though!!;) It was mentioned I think in the "Julie and the older man" eps. that at first Ed wasn't excepted in the Romano family because he wasn't Catholic! I think they said he was Baptist? But I'm not 100 percent sure?? And I think Barbara and Julie were pretty much raised Catholic! Well as far as Ann followed the religion? I took it Ann and Ed weren't THAT religious ! And back than it pretty much was what religion your Mom was , the kids would follow, UNLESS the Dad was TOTALLY Religious and wanted them raised in his religion!;) Funny cause in real life Bonnie Franklin was Jewish, and Ed ( Joe Campanella ) was Catholic (I'm sure) ! It was her that was supposed to be Italian and it really was Joe that was Italian and they just made him be non ethnic (Cooper) even though he was very swarthy and LOOKED Italian and Ann sure didn't look Italian, even though she was just half Italian! ! Same as it was never said that Max was Jewish ! Even though he looked very Jewish and his last name was Horvath!! :D counrfk 07-14-2017, 12:06 AM Ann was for SURE!!!!!;) Well of course being Ann's Dad was Italian, Italians are Catholic !;) Ed wasn't though!!;) It was mentioned I think in the "Julie and the older man" eps. that at first Ed wasn't excepted in the Romano family because he wasn't Catholic! Was there a reason they made her Italian? Did it make a difference to the show? Why was Ed not Italian? Why does any of it matter, LOL. He was REALLY big on ethnic stereotypes, as were lots of Producers back than ! As noted in a lot of the shows that were coming out in the 70's!!! Ethnic groups were being featured much more than in the 1950's and 1960's type shows where the people were all corn fed all American "Anglo " type people!! ;) :D But Ann REALLY didn't look Italian, not even half! :D Being red haired and blue eyed why not make her a fiery, feisty Irish girl?? ;) :D counrfk 07-14-2017, 12:33 AM Because to make her " stereotypical Italian"!!" Watching this as a kid, I never thought about Italian, Irish, etc. I just saw them as a white American family. The feisty red-head thing would have worked no matter what ethnicity Ann was. Right! ;) I'm thinking her mother Katherine was supposed to be of Irish or perhaps English ancestors ?:) IDK why they made such a big deal of Ann being Italian!? It would have been different if her Italian Dad, Mr. Romano had a big part in the show! But no! He was only on twice in nine seasons and played by two different actors!;) So IDK ???  ;) Anna Karenina 07-14-2017, 02:24 AM Right! ;) I'm thinking her mother Katherine was supposed to be of Irish or perhaps English ancestors ?:) IDK why they made such a big deal of Ann being Italian!? Also I always thought they should have given Ann a sibling or two for story line purposes. Unless there was a medical reason why she couldn't have kids you would think somebody like Katherine who grew up in a large family would want a house full of kids for herself. Bonniegirl 07-14-2017, 02:34 AM Katherine was into the occult and tarot cards and had a fling with a younger man on a cruise which I thought was way out of character for a supposedly straight laced woman. TOTALLY!!! And considering there weren't many birth control options in the 1940's either!! It was strange for a healthy couple to only have one child back than!  Ohio8 07-26-2017, 08:48 PM Ann was for SURE!!!!!;) Well of course being Ann's Dad was Italian, Italians are Catholic !;) Ed wasn't though!!;) It was mentioned I think in the "Julie and the older man" eps. that at first Ed wasn't excepted in the Romano family because he wasn't Catholic!
