Wow, I imagine there are a lot of happy people, including me, regarding this news. Shout Factory finally comes through, Green Acres complete series. No doubt I'll plan to buy this one. Now if Shout Factory would also release Forever Fernwood, follow up series to Mary Hartman, things would be even better.

I am thrilled! I am so glad I didn't buy the first three seasons individually. I'm sure Shout will also release the last three individually sometime in 2018. I'm also glad I didn't bother downloading the episodes from Kodi as it is very time consuming, as I just did with Happy Days and Who's the Boss.

Finally! I wonder why it took so long considering it is owned by MGM and Shout Factory had no problems licensing Mister Ed from MGM.

I would love that! With it being on Logo...I am surprised no one has moved to put it out on a complete series dvd set. Not wanting to get off topic but I'd love to see Alice finally complete on DVD. It is a shame that two legendary comedies are not complete on DVD.

Shout Factory has released other Norman Lear shows like All In The Family and Mary Hartman. It's been a long wait for Green Acres to be released as a complete series, since it's finally happening maybe that increases the possibility One Day At A Time might get released also.

Yes, they need to release complete series of One Day at a Time, Archie Bunker's Place, Who's the Boss, and 227. They're also doing a good job with Diff'rent Strokes and I have a feeling they will finish it by early 2018.

With the sitcom Alice, the seasons with Flo are by far the most popular. Those seasons have already been released, so I imagine it's questionable if more seasons will be released. Complete series release is probably even more questionable, but I never say never, anything is possible.

I think the Green Acres set will probably be a big seller. Fans of the series have been wanting this for a long time. Shout Factory is timing this right, they know how to make a buck, they are releasing it in October just before the holidays and I imagine this will be on many people's Christmas wish list.

I do believe One Day At A Time complete series will someday be released. I don't know 100 percent that it's going to happen, but I feel more confident it will be released than not.

I would also love to see them re-release Alf with unedited episodes.

Does Brian Ward still work for Shout Factory? I believe the Leave It To Beaver complete series was Brian's project, it's a good DVD set but a few things could have been improved. The main issue with the DVD set is the 1st season episode opening teaser scenes are messed up/out of place, which is a pretty big defect. I kept my copy of the 1st season from Universal and I play those discs when I watch season 1. Also with the complete series set, it would have been nice if a little more creativity were used and design a different episode menu screen for each of the 6 seasons, instead of using the same menu for all 6 seasons, episode titles written in cement. And for the 6th season, the theme music from seasons 1-5 is utilized for the episode menu screen, instead of the updated season 6 version.

I think he still does. He use to post on here as well and would give tidbits on future releases. But I haven't seen him post here in a while. I also too own the first season of Leave it to Beaver and kept it. I own the complete series as well and need to watch more of it soon.

They screwed up on the Facts of Life complete series with the menu music too. They played the Seasons 2-6 theme on all the seasons.

This seems to be a pattern with Shout Factory. When they released season 2 of The Bill Cosby Show, the season 1 version of the theme song was utilized for the menu screen instead of the season 2 version.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy the whole series is coming and I will buy it, but the extras are disappointing. I don’t hold that against SF, I thank them for giving us the complete series and, let’s be honest, as the show seems to be sadly becoming more forgotten with time, it probably wasn’t worth it to them to invest in newly produced extras.

Still, one can dream, and in my ideal world the set would have come with features like:

-The Writers: Jay Sommers & Dick Chevillat Profile
-Eddie Albert Profile
-Eva Gabor Profile
-The People of Hooterville: A Look at the Supporting Cast
-Arnold Ziffel: The Pig, The Myth, The Legend
-“Return to Green Acres” (1990)
-"Green Acres: We Are There" Nick at Nite TV Special (1989)
-Farmhand’s Diary: New Interview with Tom Lester, aka Eb Dawson
-Commentary with Tom Lester on Select Episodes

Something like that would’ve been beautiful. Sigh. Alas, Green Acres isn’t Star Trek, Batman, or even Lost in Space. Guess we have to be happy with what we get.

By the way, Return to Green Acres is easy to find on Amazon if you don't want the poor quality youtube version. I bought a copy for $5 and reviewed the movie here (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=340270). I recommend the DVD over youtube because the picture quality on the DVD is good.

I agree the DVD set looks to be short on extras, but for me I'm mostly interested in just the episodes only. As long as all 170 episodes are complete and uncut, I'll be happy with that.

It would have been awesome to have bonus features like that. I was really hoping they would at least have the full 1989 TV special with the cast. That special may be the closest we'll ever get to having interviews with the cast about the show. Ah well, it's still out there somewhere, so the search goes on.

I agree though, it could have been better but the point is we're getting the series in full, so we should be happy for that.

I've already got seasons 1 through 3 on DVD but it looks like that with this complete series release seasons 1 and 2 will be on single sided discs so I'll likely
order this set. I can't stand those double sided discs that MGM had for the first two seasons. Also this is one of the rare shows that IMHO got better as it went along with seasons 4 and 5 my favorites.

The price has dropped almost 40 dollars on Shout Factory's website. It is listed as 109.99 but when you click on the preorder button, the price goes to 76.99 due to some sort of promo. I was going to order it later but this price drop may not last long so I am going to purchase it now. Delivery 4 weeks early is also a bonus.

I've been watching Beverly Hillbillies consecutively one episode a week every week for several years now. Now I'm up to the point where I have 2 more episodes to watch and my viewing of the series will be complete once again. I'm just hoping that when I watch the last episode of Bev. Hill. 2 weeks from now that three weeks from now I will be able to start watching the entire Green Acres series in Bev. Hills place. The Shout order timing couldn't be more perfect for me, as long as it gets here in the next 2-3 weeks. Here's hoping Arnold & Mr. Ziffel will soon be seen "in the house".;)

I like the artwork on the box, not too fancy but it does the job. It looks like a typical Shout Factory complete series boxed set. It is one gigantic outer box that houses DVD cases for each season. The individual artwork for each season set is pretty good. They tried to keep their releases of the individual boxed sets uniform with the previous seasons released by the another studio.

I wish I had the time this week to actually check out some episodes but I will get to it eventually.

The bonus features don't sound too appealing but I am going to give them a try when I have a moment.

Is the outer box thick cardboard like "The Jeffersons" & "Maude" or is it think like "Mister Ed"?

I have never seen that pic before that is on the S6 case. If the old releases weren't flippers, I would wait and just get the remaining seasons 4-6 but I am buying this on release day at the mall.

Like those reviews. I've seen others look those for other releases. It's too bad the box it comes in isn't the sturdy one like the Jeffersons and others. I will wait to get it from Amazon since its almost Oct anyways...lol

I'm sort of disappointed that the cardboard box is flimsy.

The Facts of Life and The Nanny even got thick cases but poor GA gets the shaft.

I hated the flimsy outer box on the Mister Ed release as well. Shout Factory rarely does this so I am sort of disappointed that they chose the cheaper style outer box for this release.

I am hoping that One Day at a Time is not released like this. The artwork for that set has the appearance of a thick outer box but I am not sure.

I am sure One Day will have the thicker box in keeping with the previous Norman Lear sets.

I don't have any complaints with this DVD set, I am just thankful that Shout Factory finally came through and put together this complete series set. The only thing I would complain about is if any episodes are edited, hopefully all episodes will be complete and uncut.

Each season has it's own case, that's a good thing, and all single sided discs with this release, no flipper discs this time around, that's another good thing.

It doesn't bother me if the cardboard outer box is on the thinner side, I handle my DVD sets carefully. I have the Mister Ed set also and the thinner outer box is fine with me. As long as the set is packaged properly and arrives in the mail in good shape after I order it is all I'm concerned about.

Good chance it will because all the other Lear sets did and the cover art looks like it was done by the same artist.

One Day At A Time should have a thicker box due to the fact that there are 9 seasons of it. More cases means a thicker box.

Welcome Back, Kotter, WKRP, & The Bob Newhart Show had thick cases with only 3 or 4 DVD cases.

The ODAAT set should only be 5 DVD cases. 2 seasons per case + a bonus disc in the season 9 case.

Seasons 1 and 2 of One Day At A Time might be combined into one case because season 1 is a shorter season. Seasons 3 thru 9 will probably each have it's own case. That's my thinking anyway.

It's too bad about the flimsy cardboard... but at least Green Acres is FINALLY completed on DVD! But here's my question: how is the cardboard in comparison to the "Mister Ed" set?

To my knowledge, seasons 1-3 are the exact same prints as previously released by MGM because the MGM roaring lion is before every episode which is so annoying.

AngieTribeca

Don't most rereleases of previous content contain the same exact material. The only time most studios don't go back to source material is when the previous material was either edited or is no longer usable.

Agreed, though I would include season 3 as well. Seasons 3, 4, and 5 are extremely strong seasons and I think they represent the prime of the show. Season 6 was fantastic and sorely underrated IMO.
