Just saw a My Three Sons episode from 1962. When Rusty left LITB, he obviously didn't quit acting. One part he had was a quick appearance as "Cletus" on My Three Sons.

He also had an appearance on The Rifleman, but I don't remember the year.

Wasn't Rusty also in the 1980s LITB series with Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow?

Yes, but only guest appearances in a few episodes. I haven't seen the new series in forever so I don't know if he was still the guru or whatever he was supposed to be from the TV movie.

Rusty was in The Rifleman episode in '63 and I believe he made one appearance in the film, Still The Beaver. I guess he was still acting in '63. He was also in The New Leave It To Beaver series.

Yep, that's the TV movie I was referring to, he looked like a cult member or guru or something.

With guest shots after leaving "Leave it to Beaver", it looks like the story of them not asking him back anymore due to his overly demanding stage-mother was the truth after all (and not the story that he was no longer on the show due to his father getting a job in Philadelphia).

Good point. I think he was also on a 1965 episode of My Three Sons.

The Wiki article on him has a reference to a Barbara Billingsley interview, where she cites the problems with his "overbearing mother" as the reason for his being dropped from the cast (but the other reason is still in the article, too). Kind of a shame...he was a more likable friend for Beaver than the later cast members.
