View Full Version : Carole King's Tapestry
Hawkee 07-05-2017, 03:33 AM My aunt's favorite Carole King album is her famous 1971 album Tapestry and she has owned the album on record and has brought it on cd three times and she inspired me to buy my own copy of Carole King's Tapestry and my copy is so amazing because it has an unreleased song called Out In The Cold and a live version of one of her songs called Smackwater Jack. It's amazing that Tapestry is one of Carole King's popular albums and it made music history

1960'sTVfan 07-05-2017, 11:20 AM I've never developed a liking for this album, but I do have a mint condition copy of the 45 It's Too Late with I Feel The Earth Move on the flip side.
Svenfan1234 07-05-2017, 12:56 PM This is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest album of all time! Every song on it is a gem! I love it. I plan on getting the Live at Hyde Park CD/DVD too.

I remember when it first came out. I was a sophomore in high school. Mind blowing album. Truly a masterpiece. And yes, every song on it is fantastic. (Carole King and Dolly Parton are probably the two most prolific songwriters out there.)

I'm going to see "Live at Hyde Park" where she performs Tapestry live in its entirety for the first time! It's sure to be great! :)
Hawkee 07-06-2017, 02:36 AM Carole King's Tapestry was also my very first Carole King album that I got and once I got it I started collecting Carole King's albums and my second favorite Carole King album is Thoroughbred mainly because of the cover and Carole looks so wonderful riding a horse and I love horses a lot. There is also a tribute album called Tapestry Revisited which featured different artists singing their own versions of Carole King's songs from Tapestry and it's hard to believe that Tapestry is one of Carole King's best albums and it is great to listen to. I hope that Sony rereleases an anniversary album of Tapestry soon because it is truly a landmark album for Carole King

1960'sTVfan 07-08-2017, 01:43 PM The album Tapestry no doubt had a large boost in sales due to the success of the smash hit It's Too Late. So Far Away was a hit also, but to a somewhat lesser degree. To me, the best songs on the album are the two hits, also I Feel The Earth Move and Smackwater Jack, which by coincidence happen to be the flip sides of the two hit 45's. The rest of the album in my opinion, as they say in the music industry, is filler.

There is a reason it won Album of the Year, and it's because of all of the songs. It's Too Late is great, but they are all mega hits that won awards and have been recognized for.

I've just never been a big fan of Carole King's albums, although I think she fared a little better a few years later with the album Wrap Around Joy. Jazzman was the main hit from that album, I like that song.
The filler tunes from Tapestry, and there are 8 of them, are in my opinion good background music to doze off to if you're sleepy and need a nap.
