I did not religiously watch the show back when it was popular, but it seemed to me that the father looked more like the grandfather. How much of an age difference between the dad and son? Was it indicated on the show?

I always assumed Lamont was supposed to be in his early thirties and Fred might have been early to late sixties. The really odd thing is that Foxx was only in his early fifties when the show began, so he wasn't nearly as old as he or the character seemed.

I believe that early on that Fred Sanford was about 65 and Lamont Sanford was about 30 or 31.
