Ken Curtis (1916-1991) was a member of the Western vocal ensemble Sons of the Pioneers, and was part of John Ford’s stock company for a while, notably as Charlie McCorry in The Searchers. He was best known for the role of Deputy Festus Haggen in Gunsmoke, which he played for the show’s final eleven seasons.
