Live-Action "Jetsons" Series Orbiting Warner Bros., Robert Zemeckis to EP
by Michael Ausiello
June 29, 2017

Warner Bros. is angling to reintroduce TV audiences to George Jetson, albeit with a substantial twist.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the studio is developing "The Jetsons", a live-action sitcom remake of Hanna-Barbera’s beloved ’60s animated series about a family residing in the futuristic, outer-space utopia known as Orbit City.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson declined to comment, but sources confirm that the studio — which has hired "Family Guy" EP Gary Janetti to shepherd the potential series — will begin shopping the multi-cam project around to broadcast and cable networks in the coming weeks.

Janetti would also serve as an EP alongside Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke.

ooh - maybe they'll do it over like Riverdale as a hyper-dramatic teen soap opera, all dark and filled with sex and suspense and plot twists.

I don't see how any of this could possibly go wrong.

I had posted this comment about the idea of a "live-action" TV program based on "The Jetsons" being developed at Warner Bros. in the comments section for the original version of the article at the address mentioned below the version of it that was posted here:

"I would had proposed making a 'live-action' program similar to 'The Jetsons', but with different characters and a different universe if I were the person responsible for the idea of a 'live-action' program based on 'The Jetsons' being developed at Warner Bros."

"The Jetsons" Live-Action Reboot from Robert Zemeckis Lands at ABC

It’s the future, and The Jetsons are back. A multi-camera, live-action reboot of the 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated series, executive produced by Robert Zemeckis, has landed at ABC with a put pilot commitment.

The new version will be written by Gary Janetti, who has background in both multi-camera and animated comedy series, having worked on NBC’s "Will & Grace" and Fox’s "Family Guy". Warner Bros. TV, whose sibling Warner Bros. Animation absorbed Hanna-Barbera two decades ago, is the studio.

Janetti executive produces with Zemeckis and Jack Rapke, with Jackie Levine serving as co-executive producer.

Jim Carrey would have made a great george and Danny Devito is perfect as Mr. Spacely.

I could see it lasting approximately 5 episodes before it's cancelled. Live- action versions of cartoons never work
