Good question. Sondra was an annoying person. Like that episode where She insults Alvin's body and when he responds she is upset. I never understood what Elvin ever saw in her at all. That was the episode where Denise and Sondra were being ridiculous over a stripper at a bachelor party,

Sondra was a bully like her mother when it came to men. Like Claire, Sondra had no respect for men at all. She was a shrew and Elvin was a mouse of a man for even putting up with that harpie.

If I remember correctly, Sondra made it clear from the beginning that she really liked Elvin after all.
And it was often her own fault, that they would have those stupid fights.
Furthermore, Elvin dropped the whole straw sexist act as their relationship grew.
