In the game show world I've noticed that good game show hosts are becoming scarce to find when it comes to new and exciting game shows being made in the years ahead and I would like to know why this is? Is it because game show hosts today want to have a good personality and good interaction with the contestants? Because it seems that in game shows today you will never find another Bob Barker or another Peter Tomarken or even another Bill Cullen Monty Hall or Regis Philbin and it seems that game show hosts today make today's game shows fun to watch. Another thing I've noticed about game show hosts today is just like in movies it seems that every time a game show debuts it attracts a huge fanbase of girls because it seems that when girls watch the game show they watch it because the host has a crush factor and is cute. Take for example when GSN debuted Chain Reaction the host of the show Dylan Lane became an instant crush of teenage girls and then GSN repeated that success with The Chase when Mark Labbett also became a top crush of girls. A second show that did this is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and when Chris Harrison started to host it I noticed that it's new audience is mainly girls because Chris Harrison is now a crush of many girls. And as more game shows are being made I think we will start seeing a whole new generation of game show hosts in the years ahead as time goes by

I agree with you, Bestie! Good hosts are hard to find. To be a good host, you have to appeal to everybody. But todays hosts usually only appeal to certain people. One is liked by young girls, one by older folks, etc. Regis Philbin is a good example of a host the everybody liked. Can everybody here, including you, Bestie, please submit a list of their favorite hosts? Please rank them by number.

Why did he come off as "stiff" and "boring" to you? I had always enjoyed him as host of the original North American "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", "Super Millionaire", and "Million Dollar Password".

Bob Barker, to me, is the gold standard. I liked Alex Trebek when he hosted Classic Concentration. I thought Dick Clark was good too.

Alex Trebek, Pat Sajak, and Bob Barker are all legends in my book along with Dick Clark, Monty Hall, and Richard Dawson. I guess that I could say Ray Combs is a legend as well.

So far, nobody has mentioned the man who has hosted more game shows than anyone, Bill Cullen. He was a very good host who treated the contestants well and added humor to the proceedings. Though a lot of his shows were short-lived such as Blankety Blanks, Pass the Buck and the original Chain Reaction, Cullen made the show watchable.

Nowadays, I do agree with the post about good game shows hosts becoming hard to find. One host who deserves another show is Billy Gardell. The former Mike & Molly star was host of Monopoly Millionaires Club for two seasons and did a great job. It is hard to find someone who has the prficiency to keep the game moving and show empathy for the contestants as well as interact with celebrities.

Here's another thing about game show hosts that I noticed that I can't figure out why this is. Every time a game show host hosts a game show they do one game show and then you never see the host star in another game show again. Take for example David Ruprecht first became a huge star in the game show world when he hosted Supermarket Sweep on Lifetime and PAX TV but ever since Supermarket Sweep was cancelled you have never seen David Ruprecht host another game show again. A second example is comedian Bill Engvall and when he made his game show hosting debut as the host of GSN's revival of Lingo he was destined to be one of GSN's popular stars but after GSN cancelled the Lingo revival Bill Engvall became a one hit wonder game show host. But I do wish that GSN would let game show stars like Mark Labbett and Mark L. Walberg have a chance at hosting fun game shows for the network and that would be so cool to see. I do agree with the previous post about Billy Gardell because I think he really deserves a second chance of hosting another game show because he would rock the game show world indeed

One other one show wonder that comes to mind is Stubby Kaye, who presided over the Heatter-Quigley kids game show Shenanigans. He also sang the show's theme song. He had great rapport with the young contestants but after Shenanigans ended, he never hosted another game show. He would have done well hosting a regular game show with adult contestants.
