I thought Gill did a great job of being the wife and mother of the imaginary couple and their children. I laugh every time I watch that episode.
I am not sure Gill should have run away though after the car got stuck on the road.

Typical of all of Beaver's friends. Abandonment in time of trouble.
Yeah, that was a well-written scene, and well acted, particularly by Talbot.

I just watched this episode earlier today! Gilbert was hilarious as the mother in the car. He even came up with names for the kids! It was typical of Beaver's friends to aboandon him when the heat was on as Gilbert did in this episode. I'm surprised that Wally got in so much trouble when all he did was move the car out of the way of traffic. You'd think they'd be thanking him!

The funniest Gilbert scene for me.

Poor Wally. And one of those drivers instead of honking should have seen if they could help.

Even before Wally came along, you'd think one of those silly adults would have sized up the situation, and said, "Hey, kid, you need some help?" (I don't remember if Gilbert had flown the "coupe" yet).
Also, you'd think the law shouldn't be so unbending. I don't think the cop should have cited Wally once he found out what happened.

The cop's actions make Mayfield seem like a prim and proper town where nobody steps out of line

I forgot, we're dealing with small town cops. They probably spend most of their days sitting behind the Soup billboard with their radar guns, looking for people going 27 in a 25.

I agree that one of the adults should have acted to help Beaver with the stalled car instead of just honking their car horns.
