View Full Version : Marie Hilley
DazzlerSparkler 06-16-2017, 02:11 AM Lets talk about this case.
This is one of the most intriguing cases I have ever seen tbh. The woman who gives Disney's Queen Grimhilde from Snow White a run for her money.
Like you can attempt to murder your whole family and be so motherly while doing it.
The blonde wig tho...let us not forget she successfully passed herself off as her sister's twin....and ppl belived it!
Now look at how she died. Exposure to the elements. Karma? A fitting death for the master poisoner.
Judith from Omaha 06-16-2017, 03:57 AM Ooh but the real question is, have you seen the Lifetime movie starring Queen Judith Light?! It's amazing. I'm not sure of how accurate a depiction it was, but in the movie when Marie had herself "die" in Texas and she came back to town as her twin sister Terri, there was a woman who worked at her job who immediately knew she was full of it, haha. It's so hilarious because as soon as she introduces herself as Terri, the woman is like, "No you're not, you're Robbi!" I definitely hope there was someone like that when Marie attempted this scam. I know her husband fell for it, but I always felt sorry for him because he seemed like such a lonely person, especially to be easily manipulated by Marie.
As bizarre as the case is what with her poisoning family members and such, I have never understood why on earth she would make up a pretend twin and come back as such. If she was tired of the guy and her new life, why not just up and disappear? Why not just make up another lie and leave? The Texas thing could have held up. You could have made up a reason for going back to Texas and then left for good. I'll never understand her reasoning for making up a twin, lol. Did she really think she would get away with it?

The actress who played her did an outstanding job.

Completely agree. The actress is one of the best UM actors. She has always reminded me of Sally Field.

I never gave this case a whole lot of thought. I guess because it was solved at the time the show aired, and the point of the segment was more a profile of the "diabolical mind" - it was a part of that special.
I would be curious to know why exactly she did all of this. It seems insurance proceeds were the ultimate goal. However, I have to wonder if she got off on the sympathy people likely extended to her due to all of her family members falling ill and dying. Probably a little of both.

...breakfast from Marie Hilley or a shake from Elizabeth Ortiz?

It was a miracle he survived.
From what I remember, Marie Hilley's poisoning tactics involved smaller doses over longer periods of time. So technically, if you were ordered the morbid choice of picking between the two, you're probably safer eating one of Marie Hilley's dinners.
Elizabeth Ortiz was going for the one and done kill with the milkshake.

Breakfast from Marie Hilley. She killed her husbands over a period of time.

True- and a better chance of getting away!
DazzlerSparkler 06-20-2017, 01:41 AM Marie's case reminds me of the Linda Hazzard case. Although strange as it sounds Marie's is mire evil in a way
flytrapp 06-20-2017, 12:37 PM Do you guys think the second husband (I think they were married?) actually bought the whole twin thing? Or do you think he was so in love with Robbie that he chose to ignore it, figured it was some crazy quirk of hers, and carried on just happy that he had Robbie back?
I agree, the actress was great in the segment. She reminds me of Karen Carpenter.

I'm not sure if the 2nd husband swallowed the whole 'twin sister of allegedly dead wife' deal. However; it is known that he committed suicide a few years after her own death so I'm wondering if he may have belatedly felt as though he'd wasted a good part of his life and energies on her and felt regret over having done so. I also wonder if he ever had anything to do with her children by her first marriage or were they so estranged from her that they refused to meet with him even though he'd had nothing to do with her crimes against them or their late father.

He was actually murdered at a motel while trying to break up a fight (I'll try to find a good article on this, I'm coming up short now).
I do wonder if he bought it or was so enamored he just pretended to believe.

Oops (and YIKES!!). I have to wonder what his life would have been like had he never met her. I somehow think it would have been better and he possibly may have been spared that fate.

I also looked and could not find confirmation of a suicide on his part. In any case, it's sad that he has since passed.
WishfulDreamer 06-21-2017, 09:39 PM I couldn't find any articles on it, but several blogs about the case and some members of this forum mentioned it. Apparently it happened in 1989 while he was working as a caretaker at that motel.

I just posted that on the other thread you had the question on. But you've found her, so you're good. :)
She's really aged quite gracefully. I would be very interested to take a class from her. You have to wonder if she has that Marie Hilley accent. :)

Love you <3
I would be too distracted asking her about playing Marie and it'd turn into a Suzanne Maretto situation

A strain of tuberculosis might have escaped in Maryland
And two people in the UK were poisoned by the same material as the Scripals. Most likely results of not being serialized enough...what they touched that is

Another case where UM picked a fox to play a not very attractive woman.
