Back in the 70's to early 80's, my older brother and I collected albums from the groups/singers that we liked.

We have over 500 - 700 albums. (we lost track of how many)
We put the albums first in alphabetic order of groups/singers,
then put the titles of the their albums in alphabetic order.
This way we could find the albums that we needed or just wanted to listen to at the time.
As our collection grew, we had to find a way to properly store them in a vertical position. My brother worked at a grocery store and find some wooden crates (orange crates - I think) that worked beautifully. The crates were (I think) 12 x 12 x 36 We have two full crates and one half full.

When I got married, I left all the albums with my brother because he had bought the sound system to play them on.

He has:
Marantz Receiver
Technics Turntable
Pioneer Cassette Tape Deck
Cd Player (not sure of the brand)
Bose 901 Speakers (Brand new to the market when he bought them)

I happened to read this right in the room with the albums so it was a quick count. We have 52 still on vinyl.

Is this vinyl?

Hopefully. I don't have the energy to add up the CD's and cassettes.

Is this vinyl? About 20, all jazz and opera that wasn't on CD.

Yes, I was talking vinyl for our collection. I believe CD's came out in 83 or 84,but you can include them since they are still albums. I guess cassettes and 8 tracks should also be included.

I was looking more at albums, but if you want to include 45's that's OK.
(as long as stated as 45's)
How about any 78's?

It's good to know I'm not the only "old music junkie." :)

None at all. No CDs or cassettes, either.
