I remember taking the knob off the TV when my dad was about to come inside in an attempt to prevent him from changing the channel to the news.

Isn't that the truth! Of course we didn't have any means of recording programming until the late 1970s (At this time the first VCRs went for omg: $2,500.00 omg: (I didn't my first VCR until :santa2: Christmas, 1984 :tree:). I didn't get my first big-screen TV until 2005.

(In the mid 1970s big-screen "projection" TVs cost more than my father's new Mercury Marquis! :eek2: It's amazing how times have changed since then. Today you can get a DVD/VHS recorder, a region-free DVD player and a blue-ray player, with all three devices hooked up to a 36-inch HDTV for a wallet-busting $300.00. :crazy:
