Mayfield must be a big city to have a major baseball game played there. Ward acts like it's so far away but the tickets say Mayfield. Wonder why Beaver didn't balk at wearing a suit to a ballgame then Wally could have gone.
When June and Ward are headed to the lake when Uncle Billy stays with the boys they are dressed for a banquet.
I believe Ward said "Mule Saunders" got a hit....I thought he was a retired football player who runs his wifes beauty salon now......Wow he was the original Tim Tebow!!!

Good ole Mule--playing baseball at night after retiring from football, and running a beauty parlor during the day...what a guy!
And didn't Beaver get his picture taken with Mule at the football banquet? Every Mayfield boy's dream...

Wearing a suit and tie was actually quite common for Beaver and Wally. Whenever they went to a program in the school auditorium they wore a suit and tie. They also dressed formally for dances and parties. They also dressed up when going out for dinner or to baseball and football games. And they also dressed formally for important company like Aunt Martha or Uncle Billy.

That was normal for the 1950's....

I remember my dad would come home from work and remove his jacket just like Ward. He would put a sweater on as well. This made him more comfortable. My mother was a professional too and would remove her jacket as well.
I never saw my dad in jeans unless it was the weekend and we were going to Yosemite or something similar.

Wow you must have been rich!
Also I believe Mule Saunders went to State and was a member of Ward's alma mater, Alpha Kappa.
Also the original Jim Thorpe.

If you are referring to me, no not rich. Not as well off as Ward.

In one of the episodes, I think the one that Beaver bought Ward the millionaire book, either Beaver or Ward said the Cleavers were "comfortable".

The Cleavers were definitely upper middle class. Yes Tanker I was referring to you. Wow Yosemite, would love to go there. I think I never had a vacation growing up. One time I think we stayed in a hotel in Maine and toured a prison LOL.

Wait, going to Yosemite would make someone rich? I live 80 min from Yosemite if I take the back way. I go there sometimes just to walk the dog or ride my bike for a couple of hours. This does make me blessed, but not rich. I call Yosemite my backyard.
Wish I was rich. Wish I was as well off as Ward.

Love to live near Yosemite or as someone I knew called it Yose-mite.
