Back in the early seventies, "All in the Family" broke down a lot of barriers in terms of what was okay to get into in prime-time TV. In between then and now, a lot of other shows took the barriers that "All in the Family" broke down and went even further with them. I would say that "Gimme a Break!" is a good example of a series that went even further with controversial topics. These topics included religion, birth control and having to kill another human being in the line of duty. However, in between then and now, there have been shows that have gone even further than "Gimme a Break!" in these types of topics. A very good example is "Will and Grace". You see, another topic that was, pretty much, considered taboo in the days before "All in the Family" was the bathroom habits of both people and animals. Well, "Will and Grace" featured a lot of bathroom references. Over on the "Will and Grace" page of this site, someone recently started a thread called "Will and Grace to be Reissued on DVD". This thread is currently on the top of the page and I am the most recent person to reply. I would be very interested in what anyone here thinks of the thread in general and my reaction to it in particular.
