Jeffrey Hunter was considered to play the part of Mike Brady?
He actually wanted to try the part ?

Jeffrey Hunter died in May 1969. The Brady Bunch premiered in September 1969. It has to mean that the Brady Bunch was in the process of being planned for broadcast and the cast were being considered well before its first televised show. If Jeffrey Hunter were chosen for the role of Mike Brady (in retrospect) it means he would have died soon after the first few episodes were filmed and a replacement would have had to be found soon, or maybe the entire show would have been terminated because such a cast change so soon after the premiere is disastrous. I best recall Jeffrey Hunter in the movie "King of Kings" in which he played "Jesus" and the movie has a story of its own. In fact, I strictly only recall him in that role. I have a slight recollection of him in some western afterward.

It is said that he was considered "Too handsome" for the role of Mike Brady.
Strange criteria. Florence Henderson was not considered "Too pretty." Most people don't have such photogenic mothers.

However, it is possible that according to current standards, Jeffrey Hunter would not be considered "Too handsome."

Wasn't he also in the Star Trek pilot? (Maybe I'm mixed up--didn't look it up...)

Yes, he played Captain Pike.
