Thank you all so much for your prayers and messages of love following my sudden, tragic death. Of course this has come as a terrible shock and I ask that you respect my privacy at this difficult time. Following my funeral there will be a short period of national mourning, after which I will resume work on my upcoming movie, 'Jintus'. Thank you once again for your very moving condolences.

It was confirmed as being a hoax by Barry himself. Unfortunately the source that I got it from is supposedly a good friend of Barry and his family so it seemed legit at the time.

I'm SO GLAD he isn't really dead!:) I was shocked and really sad when I read that earlier here on my cell phone! Now I'm home and finding out it wasn't true!

I was just saying to myself earlier at 11:00 that I wished METV kept Diagnosis Murder on! Than reading that Barry had died was really terrible!:( I was thinking how horrible this must be on his Dad! But Thank God he is alive! ;)

I never liked his show, Diagnosis Murder. Too boring for me.

Only a sick and twisted person like him would joke about something like that. Hate him. Amazing he came from such a talented person, his Dad, Dick Van Dyke because he has no acting talent period.

I really like Barry and like Diagnosis Murder, but I agree with Sven that there is nothing at all funny or cool about a hoax like this! :( :confused:

I agree that it's not funny when someone starts a rumor like that, but if the one that is supposed to be dearly departed wants to have some fun with it then I see no harm in that. If he were mad about it then he would've most likely demanded that his daughter remove it from her FB page.
