I just finished reading a certain thread. It seems that there are a few hundred replies.

I think there was a statement that the thread is over 15 replies long so it was shut down. Sounds strange. I am not familiar with a rule on sitcomsonline that threads ( discussions, topics) have to only have 15 replies and any replies over that will mean that the thread will be closed to further comments.

There are many threads with several dozen and hundreds of replies.
Not sure I am understanding it right.

However is there a known thread here that is officially known as having the most replies? Which is it?
Which discussion has gone on the longest?
Which topic seems really popular for posters to comment on?

I think I have seen several threads that have no reply and some of those are mine, so even though it is OK to mention those threads, it is essentially redundant as to which thread has the "fewest replies."

UPDATE: I think that no one wants to really answer because they are afraid their thread or one of their favorite threads will be shut down because of having more than 15 replies.
However, I heard that other posters are not familiar with such a rule.

Is there a rule that a thread can only have 15 comments before it is closed by the mods?

I had to change the context of this thread so others won't be mad at me

After 1000 posts a thread is supposed to close (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=352960), but this isn't a very strict rule from what I've seen.

The largest thread on the site I'm pretty sure is this one (http://sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=114979&page=1046) with 15,688 posts. It seems the moderators were running some system analysis and testing the merge feature. It has since been closed.

I've put in a few threads with no replies. Another forum I go to has a way to delete a thread if you created it (even if it has replies--the entire thread still goes away). It's a good idea to be able to delete your thread if it has no replies--not sure it's a good idea to be able to delete it if it has replies.

1000 posts is the rule - with exceptions depending on the forum and circumstances, enforcement is somewhat casual and generally self-imposed.

sure, we'll call it "system analysis"; I'm gonna hafta use that one next time I'm goofing off and trying to see how much I can get away with before getting my hand slapped.

Holy cow, I had never seen that Jane thread until now. Many threads get locked by 1046 posts, this one had 1046 PAGES.
