May 25, 2017
HBO is bringing back two of its original comedies. "Veep" and "Silicon" Valley have been renewed for their seventh and fifth seasons, respectively. Both shows will return in 2018.
The renewals are not surprising given the critical success both shows have garnered since their respective debuts in 2012 and 2014. The pickups come midway through their current seasons, which both wrap on June 25th.
"Veep" has accrued 11 Emmys thus far, with a record five wins for star Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the best lead actress in a comedy series category. The series also taken home the Emmy for best comedy series two years in a row.
Louis-Dreyfus has also received two Screen Actors Guild awards for her portrayal of now-former president Selina Meyer.
