I just bought a used copy of the book "The World According to Beaver" by Irwin Applebaum - billed on the cover as "the official Leave It to Beaver book" and published way back in 1983. It is excellent. It really is a definitive book about the show, featuring detailed synopses of all the episodes, character analysis, and information about the stars as well as some of the more hilarious snippets of dialogue and of course ample photographs. Anybody else have this book?

Great...will look for this one. Also, if you haven't seen Mathers' book, And Jerry Mathers as the Beaver, it's also a good read.

There's also Ken Osmond's EDDIE, which I found a bit disappointing although filled with some interesting facts about when Ken was working on the show.

Yes, I bought that book (World Acc. To Beaver) back when it first came out. I actually went to a bookstore to buy, saw and talked to real people in the store (imagine that). Ahh, the good old days before internet stores.

Ah, yes, the good, old-fashioned store. I took my 97 year old mother to buy shoes at an old-fashioned shoe store last week (like the one where Beaver got Chuckie his shoes)...I felt like June and Ward might march in any minute. Only trouble is, this was Beech Grove (state unknown, of course!), not Mayfield.

I found And Jerry Mathers as the Beaver full of errors especially when Mathers tells about an episode. I think that's the book when Mathers meets up with Hugh in a store and he had Tourette syndrome.

It's an interesting book--but he has a bad memory. When I was looking up something the other day (trying to find the makeup guy's name--he said Bob Dawn, but I see Jack Barron in the credits), I found 2 of his errors--one where he describes a scene incorrectly, and another where he says we never knew Miss Landers' first name.

Yeah and Jerry loves to talk about being the first show to show a toilet tank. Tony is more subdued but I bet he has a better memory.
