As I was rewatching--for the umpteenth time--the Valentine's Day-themed episode "Stop Will! In The Name Of Love" (from "Fresh Prince's" fourth season [1993-94]) on MTV2 last night, I realized that Will was a complete assh**e throughout the entire episode, and here are the reasons why:
1) Will deliberately locks Carlton in the stockroom at the Peacock shortly before Carlton's date from the computer dating service arrives (Carlton went into the stockroom to wallow in his own self-pity because he was afraid his date wouldn't show up) and ends up masquerading as Carlton and taking Carlton's date out instead.
2) Will persuades a reluctant Uncle Phil to allow him to chaperone Ashley's date, which evolves into a disaster...Will and Ashley's respective dates, Samantha and Bryan, abandon both Will and Ashley after Will becomes fiercely overprotective of Ashley while completely ignoring Samantha.
3) Will ends up chastising Ashley's date, Bryan, for attempting to take advantage of Ashley, causing a humiliated Bryan to leave (Will calls him a "little Filthy McNasty")...a furious Ashley retaliates by berating Will and, later, Uncle Phil for being fiercely overprotective and not trusting her.
There you have it, boys and girls--the three reasons why Will was an assh**e in "Stop Will! In The Name Of Love."
What is your opinion on this topic? Do you think Will should've been more sympathetic towards Ashley? Or do you think Will did the right thing? Drop me a line--I'd love to hear from you!
Enjoy your evening!
