It is remarkable that there have been new developments in several old cases over the last few months. Grateful Doe has been identified as Jason Callahan, Jacob Wetterling's killer has confessed and now Kristin Smart's remains have been found. It gives me hope that other, long-cold cases will eventually be solved.

What other cases would you most like to see resolved?

Kristin Smart's remains have been found.

Say what? I think you are jumping the gun on this one.

Welcome to the board, though. It is indeed a good year for cold cases. Huntington Beach Jane Doe is another example.

If they don't reboot unsolved mysteries there will not be new updates in a faster time.

Of course I'd like to see all of them solved in the end but of the ones that have always bothered me, I'd love to see the following solved:

Circleville Letters
Rochelle Robinson and Michael Johnston
katherine korzilius
Michael Reimer and Diana Robertson (and related tube sock murders)
Dale Kerstetter
Torso killer (extremely unlikely after 80 some years)

"Tom Johnson" but both victims are now deceased and I think he is too.
Brad Bishop but I think too much time eclipsed and he's deceased
Joe Maloney
Donald Webb but I think he is deceased
Arthur Lee Washington but I think he is deceased

Yes. Welcome.

And tell me more about Kristin Smart? What info do you have that I'm missing? She's been one of the cases I'd really like to see a resolution to... which involves Paul Flores (and possibly his father) in handcuffs. But hey, that's just me.

Those are all good. Did you happen to see a post that The Cars made quite some time ago? He had been in contact with someone very close to the Circleville Letter investigation. I'm pretty sure that one has been figured out... I'll try to find the thread for you. Spoiler Alert: It was NOT Paul Freshour.

Remains were found on the Cal Poly campus last fall. They have not been definitively proven to be those of Smart yet, but the excavation was a result of the ongoing investigation into her disappearance so it's very likely they are her remains.

Have they even determined if the remains are human yet? I thought that was up for debate still.

I had not seen that. The link would be great if you can find it.

I never felt Paul Freshour was responsible for anything than being perhaps an unwitting dupe or patsy in this case. I believe there was some discussion a while back (couple of years at least) about it being Paul's wife and an accomplice that she was having an affair with. Although I may be remembering wrong. At the time though I was leaning toward that theory. I would have to read up on it again though as it's been a while.

There hasn't been any announcement either way. I can't imagine at this point (eight months later) that they haven't made a determination on whether they were human or not. I have to believe that they are human or a public statement would have been made to the contrary by now.

That was me. Yes, it was Mary and Paul's wife. I've been emailing Marin Yant off and on since 2011. This whole case is disgusting.

Mary Gillespie and Paul's wife? So the theory is that Mary set up the trap and mailed letters to herself? Hmm.

I always felt that it was obvious that at least 2 people were involved because on UM the letters shown had 2 very distinctly different sets of handwriting. I'm no handwriting expert, but these styles were very different. At least 1 set appeared to be a woman's handwriting to me. Women do generally have different style than men in their writing, but by no means is that absolute.

I would find it interesting to get all of the known letters together in the order they were received and read through them. UM of course only showed a few. Such a weird case though.

Remains were found on the Cal Poly campus last fall. They have not been definitively proven to be those of Smart yet, but the excavation was a result of the ongoing investigation into her disappearance so it's very likely they are her remains.

This is according to the California Register from September to February...

SEPT 2, 2016: Biggest crime dig in San Luis Obispo County history (Sept. 2016) turns up animal bones and hobo trash. Sheriff continues to ignore science and eyewitness testimony at the most likely burial site of Kristin Smart, the rear left corner of the home belonging to the suspect’s mother.

SEPT 15, 2016: A young woman has come forward to say that when she and Paul Flores were attending Arroyo Grande High School, Paul drugged her and raped her when she was 15 years old. Her parents took her to the hospital, then to the police. The Arroyo Grande Police basically said she had given consent, but as most of us know; a minor is legally incapable of giving “consent.” The matter was ultimately dropped because police believed she had been drinking and gave “consent.” If Paul Flores indeed did drug and rape this 15 year old, then one wonders if he did not use the same modus operandi on Kristin Smart. Was Kristin Smart drugged then raped in Paul’s dorm room at Cal Poly?

DEC 4, 2016: The famous grave detection dog BUSTER, who alerted several times near and around the rear left corner of the Flores home in Arroyo Grande, passed away in Spring 2016, and his replacement (BOSCO) was procured and immediately started his training. At seven months of age, BOSCO may have already found his first clandestine grave in another part of California. Plans are being made to conduct a dig to verify his alert.

JAN 27, 2017: Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Arpad Vass arrived in Arroyo Grande. Why he was in the San Luis Obispo area remains sealed. Standby for further information.

FEB 11, 2017 – We discovered Paul Flores was arrested early Friday morning, Sept 16, 2016, at 3 am by Hermosa Beach Police, possibly for driving under the influence. If it was a DUI arrest, it will be Paul’s fourth DUI arrest. He was held on $50,000 bail and was released on Monday, Sept 19, 2016. The timing of his arrest somewhat coincides with the digging the sheriff was conducting at Cal Poly and various places throughout San Luis Obispo County.

We can now add Webb to this list.
