View Full Version : Over/Under on Number of Missing Segments from Unsolved Mysteries on Amazon?
Far Off Promise 05-18-2017, 11:24 PM How many segments do you think will be left out once all of the seasons are uploaded to Amazon?
I haven't kept up with which ones are missing from the first 4 seasons, but I'll say more than 20 and less than 50.
Winner gets a free house cleaning from Paul Pollis.
2nd place gets a steak dinner with Jim Burnside.
3rd place gets impersonation lessons with Dennis Farina.
Hops3098 05-19-2017, 02:21 PM Let's see. 13 seasons originally, and I believe they said they're releasing 7 or 8 "complete" seasons.
We lost 15 segments off the bat due to Burr & Malden, and I'd say we're at least at 30 missing through 4 seasons. If I had the time, I'd put together a real list, but I think it would be a better use of time to wait until the last season is up on Amazon.
Back to your question- I'm putting the over/under of lost segments at 59.5 ;-)

So they aren't releasing the CBS or Lifetime years?
Does anyone know around how many segments never made it to LifeTime in reruns?
NCRavensFan86 05-19-2017, 10:46 PM The "7 or 8 Seasons" comment was made one of the staffers at Filmrise who really did not know how many seasons of UM-Robert Stack were made.
The Official UM Facebook Page has confirmed time and time again that there will be 12 Seasons released, the CBS Seasons (1998-1999) will be combined into one season because those seasons were only 6 episodes a piece.
By the time all the seasons get released I think that there will be 175 missing segments, I have kept a list of all the Segments of UM and the ones missing from Amazon Video, so far thru 4 Seasons there are 95 MISSING SEGMENTS!!!!!!!!!!
tlc38tlc38 05-19-2017, 11:22 PM ^95 missing segments?! WOW...I didn't realize it was that many.
Hot Jock 05-21-2017, 12:52 PM 250 is my guess.
johnFKennedy 05-21-2017, 04:45 PM we would need a list of whats missing :)
TheCars1986 05-23-2017, 03:04 PM Maybe it's just me, but missing segments (like Gulf Breeze, Boston Mall Rapist) do not bother me. Even some of the ones released on Farina versions that aren't being released on the Stack ones (Orange sock murders) don't bother me all that much. I don't mind having segments missing considering I never thought I'd see the day when they would actually re-release Stack episodes on a major format.
DazzlerSparkler 05-23-2017, 08:45 PM Didn't realize the mall rapist one was omitted. I guess because statute of limitations? That case always scared me because of the backlight and altered voices

Yes some cases were dropped due to the statute of limitations. Others were dropped because they were obvious hoaxes. Which I think is a good thing. Since the cases are being shown again on a major platform, you'd rather feature ones that were solved as a direct result of the show (boosting it's stature as a legit show dedicated to help solving crimes), or still unsolved cases with the hopes that they will lead to new information. Repeated older, dated cases seems pointless.

Completely agree. While there are some I'd really like to see in a non-bootleg format, I'm so grateful for the others that I'm not complaining...
RobinW 05-24-2017, 02:26 PM Noticed that Amazon Prime has left out pretty much all of the family abduction cases, but I've got no objection to that since almost all of the victims were recovered safely and the now-grown children probably don't want their stories being put back into the spotlight again.

One of the victims had her voice altered up and the other one altered down.
The altered down voices always scared me as a kid.

Yeah. I haven't lost any favorite segments yet, so my opinion might change as seasons 6-7-8 get posted, but it's so incredibly nice to be able to watch what is essentially the old shows again.
JannTosh 05-24-2017, 05:51 PM I can understand why some cases need to be removed but some others removal (like OrangeSock murders and Mike Reimer and Morris Davis) make me scratch my head
Also, being solved is not the reason for cases missing. Plenty of solved cases have made it

Of course they are going to keep in the solved cases which were solved as a direct result of the show. They want to keep those in because it's what made the original UM so special.
freakbook 05-25-2017, 06:45 AM I don't care the reason, but they really need to put the Bonnie Wilder case up. That segment is a classic.
