Angela Valentine on Leave It To Beaver. Mentioned many times, but in 234 episodes, we saw her twice in one episode briefly, and that was it.
(Retraction: she was briefly seen (only) in two episodes. So never mind this one.)

Iola's mother on Mama's Family.

Gladys, Pete's (Harry Morgan) wife on December Bride

On Happy Days, Jenny Piccolo was frequently referred to but never actually seen until she finally appeared in 1980 after Ron Howard and Donny Most left the show. Cathy Silvers portrayed Jenny and Ted McGinley was also added as Roger Phillips.

A short-lived sitcom I remember from back in the early 90s I think. The 5 Mrs. Buchanans. It centered on an elderly Mrs. Buchanan and her 4 daughter-in-laws married to her 4 sons. The husbands were talked about but you only ever saw the 5 women, although I can't remember now the elderly Mrs. Buchanan might've been a widow and her husband was dead.

Ed. ETA: Oops, never mind I was wrong. All four of the sons appeared in the show at some point during it's one season run.

there was a short-lived Norman Lear sitcom in the 70s called "HOT L BALTIMORE" that was based on an off-Broadway play. It was about some of the residents at the Hotel Baltimore, and the "E" was burned out on the sign so it said HOT L BALTIMORE instead of HOTEL BALTIMORE. Anyway, I remember there was a character named "Moose" Villatti who was talked about sometimes but never seen.

In the first ep. he was supposed to be married and mentioned his wife. Than they made it that he had been married when he was young for only two weeks and got divorced. It turned out that he did have a Son from the short marriage that he didn't know about till one day (in one ep.) the son came looking for his Biological Father and he and Schneider met! :)

Later Pat Harrington had said in an interview, It was decided Schneider would be divorced rather than have a wife because if he was married it would look bad that he was flirting with the women in the apt. building! ;)

Wilson in Home Improvement. You see his eyes over the fence - but that's about it.

There were some episodes where his eyes were covered, but his chin was in full view . His face was always partially hidden . When "Home Improvement" was on "Nick at Nite", they did an advertisment where there were bits and pieces of Wilson's face was cobbled together to show his entire face .

On Alice. the customer Henry always talks about his wife Chloe, but we never see her!!

On One day at a Time the girl's friends Karen and Marcy are never shown!

There was one episode where Chloe appeared . I think Henry lied and told Chloe he was having an affair . Chloe asked who she was and Henry said "Alice Hyatt !" . He told Alice "It was the only name I could think of !" .

Carlton the Doorman on RHODA

Norms wife Vera on CHEERS, they showed her once but her face was covered and once they showed her legs and we heard her voice (and both times she was played by George Wendt's real wife)

On one episode of Rhoda, Carlton the Doorman appeared at a New Year's Eve party in his doorman's uniform and a rubber ape mask, so he appeared, but you didn't get to see what he looked like .

Bret and Barts "old pappy" on "MAVERICK"

Hawkeyes father on "MASH"

Bret, Bart, and Brent's "old Pappy" appeared in the "Pappy" episode of Maverick . He was played by James Garner ( "Bret Maverick" ), and Jack Kelly ( "Bart Maverick" ) played Uncle Bentley . The plot was something about "Pappy" Maverick marrying a young girl . I get the idea that James Garner and Jack Kelly were made up to look like older men .

You hit the nail on the head ! I wondered who played Chloe in that episode, and it was Ruth Buzzi ! The episode was "Henry's Bitter Half", and the plot was "When Henry's wife starts being nice to him, he thinks she is having an affair . Now he claims he's having one with Alice ." .

Moose was Charlotte Ray's son. He was referred to as doing outrageous things, always off camera.

One of the funniest line's I've ever heard:

"Where's Moose?"

"He's upstairs buttering the hall."

Another unseen character. On The Odd Couple, Crazy Rhoda Zimmerman, one of Oscar's lady friends.
