The NBC 75th anniversary showed a clip from In a Bed of Rose's, as well as a clip from the original opening theme song. Does anyone know if that's available online to view?

I noticed that the original opening theme song shown on the Anniversary special is different than what is shown on Lifetime....I knew that the house shown after the opening in the Lifetime eps is a replica at Universal Studios in Florida...evidently the entire opening theme was changed from the original.

I would've liked to have seen more GG clips...it was funny to see Martin Short sing the song next to Rue and Betty.

Yeah, that city scene with "The Golden Girls" was not original at all. I don't know where that came from...

I believe that the opening scene they showed was the original opening scene used in the 1st season. At the very least, something was certainly different in the 1st season, like the opening picture of Rue McClanahan. The scene they always show of her from Take Him, He's Mine, on Lifetime, was made during the 2nd season. What picture of her was used during the 1st season?

It should be noted that Lifetime uses the same general opening theme all seasons, despite the fact that during Seasons 5-7, different pictures of Rue and Estelle where used when they originally were aired on NBC and in syndication.

When the series was shown in syndication, did they ever use all the openings or just what Lifetime does?

And I HATE how Lifetime smushes the credits. They don't do it to Mad About You, why GG and Designing Women? I hate the person who ever came up with smushed credits.

I would really love to see some of the original GG openings. On a sort of side note, the Mama's Family opening is different than the one we see now on TBS, the pics for the family stay the same, but the house and street view they use is different, and so is the theme (well, it's the same, just a little different, and also, for MF, they cut out the openings by "Alistair Quince", played by Harvey Korman. A video of that can be seen online at TVParty.com in the Carol Burnett section)
