There were two very brief times in the 3-hour NBC anniversary show that involved Freddie or CATM. The first was in a collection of clips from various NBC sitcoms. The clip shown was from the episode "Second Thoughts", in which Chico is wearing the yellow jumpsuit that says "Ed's Garbage" on the back. This was the episode in which we got the best example of what a wonderful singer Freddie was, when he sang a little song while explaining to Ed how he could tune several cars at once and make them sing in harmony. But...that was not the part they showed tonight :( --rather they showed a bit from the beginning of the episode when Chico is outlining his ideas for improving business, starting with opening at 6:30 AM. So what was seen tonight consisted mostly of Ed's answering tirade about how pot used to be something you cooked in, etc., with only Freddie's one little speech and a quick reaction shot! Plus, the logo for CATM that they showed was very strange-looking, not the original.

The second time CATM came up was in a medley of theme songs. Eric McCormack (Will on "Will and Grace") sang part of the CATM theme, while sitting between Gene Shalit and Ed McMahon--as if Gene were Chico and Ed were The Man! I can't decide whether to cry because it was sooo wonderful to hear a present-day performer pay homage to our Prinze, or to cry because it was really kinda disrespectful in its presentation...IMHO.

I saw the NBC 75th anniversary & we taped it too! I was sooo excited & happy to see CATM & Freddie on there (& the Monkees too!) :)

I wonder what is up with that different CATM opening blurb? I never saw that one before or if I did I sure don't remember it. Anyone know?

Oh yeah, they told the joke from that episode about the breasts...

I did take some pics of Freddie & Jack from this NBC 75 yrs tribute with my digital camera. I didn't get but a few taken cuz it came on so fast & the camera takes a minute or so to recyle before you can take another pic &... When I saw Freddie on there I got to crying. I kept thinking about how if he were alive, he would've been on that program. It's hard to take pics when you're crying. I had to ask Mike to go get me a hankie. I didn't want to miss any of Freddie being on there. Mike wasn't too keen about that as he was watching the program too but I reminded him I had a hankie beside my puter on my puter table cuz of my allergies & he wouldn't have to go far to get it.

I put the pics I took of this off of the TV in the Freddie Prinze Fan club & am putting them on here too. Enjoy! :)

Cheryl and Mariposa, if what Cheryl posted is what you both are talking about, the logo they showed, you are both right. This picture is from the closing credits, as you both have figured out, but someone has put their own doctored logo over it. (computer generated, no less, because I recognize the font.) The original title was more likely an artist's original calligraphy. This is a shame because the original, over the background of the garage, is much nicer!
I only wished I was able to see this, but I have one adult son and two teenage daughters who were monopolizing the TV, as usual. I was tired from my weekend away and 4 hours of driving home, so I went to bed. I am sorry I missed it, tho :(
Any opportunity to see my Prinze is a wonderful experience

You'll have to get a 2nd tv. ;) Sorry you missed it. I didn't know for sure he was gonna be on there so I took a wild chance watching it & enjoyed it. Hopefully my pictures will let those who missed it know what they missed...

I only got to see the last hour of the show. So I missed Freddie.... :crying: Anyway I'm glad they did pay homage to the fact that Chico and the Man was a great show and they showed our dear, dear Freddie........ Like Butterfly's posted... I want the world to know that he was a brilliant comic and they should never disrespect him in any way.
