NBC Cancels "Timeless" after One Season
by Kaitlin Thomas
May 10, 2017

This is one time where we really wish we could go back in time to alter history. NBC has canceled the well-received, time-traveling drama series "Timeless" after one season, according to Deadline.

Created by Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan, the series followed the efforts of a heroic trio comprised of a history professor, a soldier and an engineer (Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter and Malcolm Barrett) as they traveled back in time to well known events in history in order to prevent them from being changed by a mysterious man (Goran Višnjić) with an agenda.

Unfortunately, despite positive reviews, "Timeless" was never able to bring in the viewers NBC hoped it would. It had a small but loyal audience, averaging 4.6 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults ages 18 to 49.

And unfortunately, the show's cancellation means that now we'll never find out what happened after the cliffhangers that closed out Season 1.

Very disappointed in this. Timeless was a great show.

It's hard basing a show on time traveling as the writers have to get really inventive on plotlines to keep the interest of the viewers, it's just impossible to stretch it out to say 4-5 seasons had the series been more successful.

Other time travel-based series were also canceled this season w/ ABC's "Time after Time", Fox's "Making History" and The CW's "Frequency".

Gonna miss this show, it was interesting to see how they related to people from the past including Abraham Lincoln, Bonnie & Clyde etc. They should have gave it one more season.

Oh ok well I guess I can continue watching it, for the 2nd season I think it's best if the writers keep in mind how to finish it in case it doesn't get picked up for a 3rd season.

exactly - they should probably just shoot the wrap-up episode FIRST, that way when the episode order gets cut, they can just save that one for the finale

(and if they leave a little room for some open-ended questions, should it miraculously pick up better ratings they could always just uncancel it again)
