Or to be more specific, a sitcom that lasted more than two seasons on ABC? It seems with the success the network has had with Modern Family in the eight years it has been on that nearly all the network's sitcoms are mainly about families.
And I'm wondering what was the last sitcom that wasn't centered around members of a family to air on the network that lasted beyond a single season that has aired since the “We want more sitcoms about families” comedy takeover of the network?
I want to immediately say Happy Endings, which lasted at least three seasons on ABC. There's also Suburgatory, which depends on your criteria of a "family show", since centered on a father and daughter. However in that case, the ensemble was farther reaching than the family shows that currently populate the alphabet network.
