How could a show that was on NBC for almost a decade (9 seasons) NOT get into TV Guide's Top 50 shows of all time?????

That does suck. Does anyone know what shows got picked?

I think FOL IS one of the greatest shows of all time, as do virtually all of us who come here (well, ok I hardly ever come here any more).

However, let's face it- it's family shows that usually win. I really don't know which shows made it to the top 50, but I wouldn't be surprised if Family Ties and The Cosby Show made it to that list.

Seinfeld? SEINFELD?!? SEINFELD?!?!?!?!?!?!? How the hell did Seinfeld get Number one?????? I mean I know Number 2 is still good, but honestly I Love Lucy should have been Number one! This is wrong. Seinfeld should have have even made the list, nonetheless number one! And how did Buffy Get in there? Why won't ya just hit me with a 2 by 4. It would be less painful!

but, of that list, 1 <3 Lucy shoulda been #1, with the MTM (mary tyler moore) show 2nd and ER 3rd.

stupid ppl who didn't put fol on there...die die die! ok, maybe not but they shoula put fol on there!

But it IS a family program...I mean, they deal with some pretty big issues, but it's still TV-G, unlike All in the Family or Three's Company....I don't see why it's not in the top 50!!! Maybe if they came out with a top 100 it would be on there..?? lol

I never really listen to TV Guide...none of my top three favorite shows made it in there so....Buffy over Dark Shadows????? *Shoots TV Guide* Buffy is a rip off of Dark Shadows!!!

Yeah! That's messed up!

"The Fugitive" (1963-1967) was a GREAT SHOW. One of my top favorite shows of all time, next to Facts, of course.

Well, considering that Sesame Street made it to the list, I see what you mean. The other thing is that FOL is one of the longest running sitcoms of all time (although Cheers and a few others lasted longer), if I'm not mistaken. Plus I still can't get over the fact that people come to Sitcoms Online to discuss FOL more than any other sitcom. So yes, I definitely agree that it should have made it to the top 50.

I think I know why it didn't make the list. Because critics hated the facts of life even though viewers loved it it's like a cult hit. But as you know tv guide is a critic so it doesn't surprise me that Facts didn't make it. But how in the world did Buffy make the list. That show sucks big time.

I am shocked at all the anti-Buffyness in here.

Buffy is my all time favorite show (FOL is in the top 3 though), and in some ways, you can actually see certain similarities between BTVS and FOL.

Both shows started with the characters in high school and then they went off to college and beyond.
Cordelia Chase was A LOT like Blair.
Willow has a lot in common with Natalie (even tho I can't picture Natalie as a lesbian witch)
Giles in many ways was like Mrs. Garrett, and just like Mrs. Garrett, his character departed when he felt like he's done his work.
In some ways, Dawn and Tootie have similarities too.
The show dealt with the tragedy of losing a parent suddenly (Buffy's mom, Natalie's dad)

There are shows on that list that IMO didn't deserve it, but Buffy did. It is one of the best shows around IMO.

It's hard to believe that FOL didn't make the list! It's a lot better than I Love Lucy and Seinfeld.

I love the Facts of Life but I would never say they were better than Seinfeld or I Love Lucy. Come on Seinfeld and I Love Lucy were the number one shows when they left the air. The Facts of Life weren't even ever number one. They never even made the top 20.

No, Lucy should have been #1. Facts deserved to be at least in the 30's or 40's. It should have taken Buffy's place. And Golden Girls wasn't in there either. They were above 25 in the Neilson ratings like 5 out of 7 seasons. But oh well. TV Guide sucks.
