I'm trying to a a movie from my dvr to a dvd, but all I get is a black screen , can any help me

To copy a DVR recording using a DVD recorder:

Connect the coaxial cable from the wall outlet to the DVR's Cable In port. This connection should already be in place.
Using composite cables, connect one end of each composite cable to the matching colors on the DVR's Video/Audio Out ports.
Connect the other ends of the composite cables to the matching colors on the DVD recorder's Video/Audio In ports.
Using another set of composite cables, connect one end of each composite cable to the matching colors on the DVD recorder's Video/Audio Out ports.
Connect the other ends of the composite cables to the matching colors on the TV's Video/Audio In ports.
Insert a blank DVD into your recorder.
On your DVD recorder, press Record.
Use your DVR's remote control to play back a recording. The DVD recorder records the program you are playing back.
High definition recordings do not transfer to your DVD recorder in HD because DVD recorders are not capable of saving HD content. They are still recorded, but the recordings are downgraded to standard definition.

To record from a DVR hooked up to a TV you need one set of cables. If you're using composite cables that means one of yellow, white and red which will have a connection on each end. The yellow cable is the video cable, that must be plugged into the video connection. The red and white are stereo audio cables. Keep the left and right connections the same color cable to avoid reversing the audio channels, although it makes no difference which color cable is left or right channel. Make sure you are plugging the cables into the OUT connection on the TV and the IN connection on the DVD recorder.

I tired what you said and it still does not work, now when I
play back a DVD its in black and white, I have a feeling that I need to sets of white,yellow and red cables

I'm currently recording a few shows from TV for a collection, my recording method is a little different. First I record and save the shows on the DVR, then I play the shows and record them on a VHS tape, (SP speed) then I play the VHS tape and transfer the shows to DVD. This method works perfect for me and I get a superb looking DVD every time. :)

If you have it set up as I told you, play the DVR recording on the TV and record on the DVD record, it should work.

The only other possibilities are:

1) Your equipment has some sort of copy protection which is preventing a true recording

2) Your equipment is old and not functioning properly

I have been copying recordings for 30+ years including on professional equipment.

how do I get ii back to color

My equipment does not some sort of copy protection because i recorded show unitil i unhooked to set my ps4 after I set my ps 4 I found yhat Was no need to unhook it after all

The tutorials foggy posted is exactly what I follow and always has worked. Dont be hooking and unhooking up any game system or recording device during your transfers. Is that what you did?
