To put things into a proper perspective, while Season 1 was great (in particular, the musical aspect) and really got you invested in the characters, but for the rest of the series (http://forums.previously.tv/forum/829-empire/) after that, they all just spin their wheels. Every season (http://www.lipstickalley.com/forumdisplay.php/701-Empire-Forum) starts and ends in the same place. In a nutshell, it's always more of the same - it has become predictable.

To give you a better idea, the fact that Cookie even entertains the idea of a relationship with Lucious, who is clearly emotionally abusive to Cookie, is beyond absurd and even a little upsetting.

Also, there's Jamal and his constant issues to make a coherent album? He's spends a whole season working on the Black & White album, then decides not to release. This new thing he's working on is ever changing and will never release. Meanwhile, did Hakeem ever finish an album? And Andre's attempt to undermine Lucious has once again been foiled by him just showing up.

In effect, it's just too much of a soap opera. Also the show just got corny and cheesy as hell like Cookie in that gorilla outfit in the Season 2 opener.
