NBC Pulls "Powerless"
by Pavan
April 25, 2017

NBC has pulled struggling super hero sitcom "Powerless" from its lineup effective immediately. The Vanessa Hudgens comedy has aired 9 episodes from its 12 episode order.

No word if NBC will burn-off the remaining three episodes on a Saturday or the summer yet (or even online). Original airings of "Superstore" will now fill the timeslot beginning this Thursday (April 27) at 8:30pm for the next two weeks, following a rerun at 8pm.

The finale is slated for May 4.

In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer.

Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don't need superpowers to be a hero.

Danny Pudi, Christina Kirk and Ron Funches also star.

I say they waited too long to pull it, it was painful to watch.

"Powerless" Canceled at NBC
by Michael Ausiello
May 11, 2017

NBC has lost its lust for "Powerless". The superhero-adjacent comedy — which was from the network’s Thursday night schedule last month — has formally been cancelled.

"Powerless", starring Vanessa Hudgens as the research director at a security company that protects average citizens from the superhero battles raging all around them, has struggled in the ratings since its February 2 debut.

Last week’s airing pulled a mere 2.1 million total viewers and a 0.6 demo rating — a 30 percent drop in both categories from its Superstore lead-in.

Two episodes of the show’s original 13-episode order still have yet to air — including a guest spot from TV’s original Batman, Adam West. It’s unclear when (or if) those episodes will air.

Along with Hudgens, the cast included Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi, Ron Funches, and Christina Kirk.

This sounds like DC/WB shot themselves in the foot by changing the entire premise (turning it from a show about insurance adjusters to one about mad scientists & their poorly thought out inventions) post pilot.

6 Canceled DC TV Shows That Were Set Up To Fail (https://screenrant.com/dc-tv-shows-canceled-fail/)

Powerless

The NBC series Powerless places its focus not on the heroes and villains of the DC Universe, but on average working people living in a world of metahumans. Unfortunately, Powerless failed to draw in much of an audience, only airing nine of its 12 episodes in early 2017, with the remaining three being released digitally on TVNZ OnDemand. While characters like Wayne Security employee Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) and Bruce Wayne's cousin Vanderveer Van Wayne (Alan Tudyk) had potential as regular people living in the DC Universe, Powerless ultimately suffered the same problem as Birds of Prey in lacking the support system of A-list DC heroes to draw viewers in.
