Dang, so NOT the effect I was trying for. Sorry, man. Was it that bad? Do you at least remember the last part? I almost forgot about that.

When I read in your first post about not seeing any "oh this is stupid" posts about people posting their opinions, my first thought was, "you obviously haven't run across LakeForestPI yet." Then I saw the second post in this thread. :happyface

All right. Back to the main topic-- I loved your enthusiasm, XT! Thanks for the submission.

Who do you think wrote the lyrics for the hot mess that was the CMP Christmas video spoof? And (burning question of mine that I haven't had answered) is Terry Meurer a woman?!? I watched another one of the CMP Christmas videos and it looked like they were teasing two bosses-- one man and one woman....

Ok... that is super weird and possibly worthy of it's own Unsolved Mystery. I never thought of Terry Dunn Meurer being a woman (probably a sub-conscious bias). After you mentioned it, I tried to search and there are no clues either way. There are plenty of references to Cosgrove as a he (not to mention the first name) but there are no clues as to the sex of a Terry Dunn Meurer. I saw that picture as well in the YT video and it makes you wonder.

Right? Not that it matters at all, but it's interesting. Especially considering there are no pictures of them that I can find at all online, with the possible exception of those videos. "Dunn" could be both a middle name or a maiden name.

Where's Robert Stack when you need him? :)

Over the years the mystery of Terry Dunn Meurer has popped into my head several times... I have noticed that all of the behind the scenes stuff and video interviews that have come out over the years have featured JC, but I haven't seen one yet with TDM.

On one hand, I get it- people often assume different roles in business partnerships, so maybe he's just more of (Gertrude) the face of the franchise, so to speak, and she's (Harold) the more behind the scenes worker.

On the other hand... to have a 30+ year career in Hollywood and not have your picture online anywhere obvious is strange to me. Heck you can find pictures of make-up people and other crew members these days. I get that 90% of her career probably occurred before social media, but I still find it strange to not find anything when I have looked.

Thanks, CRicci! I was like really - no one bothered to listen, and the one that did, it gave him the runs? LOL

As promised, the background for the younger folks - back in the day, I think it was when Karl Maden narrated them (before Stack joined up), the beginning segment ended with "The following is not a news broadcast, or a news documentary" Then shortly afterwards, they dropped off the news documentary part.

The other one of course is the ole Sam Wheeler one. Couldnt resist.

Oh well, least I know the crowd now. lol

Now as for those clips that was referred, I have no idea about those. I didnt do those. Honest :)

I know this is very circlestansive evidence, but in the 1996 Post Production Survival Pack video, this person is referred to as the "other boss"

217706

Perhaps, just perhaps, this is the face of Terry Dunn Meurer.

That's Big Terry alright. Years back, there used to be plenty of photos of both her and Little John on the interwebz. For one reason or another, they had all of them wiped from existence or at least from any cursory search on the google machine. In the absolute joke of an AMA they had earlier this month, Little John himself confirmed that the reason you cannot find any photos of them online is "by design" as it were.

I had thought that on the commentary of the official DVDs that there were 2 men who were speaking and they were John and Terry. Obviously if the above is correct that is not true, and I haven't watched the DVDs in several years. But I know there is not a woman's voice on the commentaries that I watched.

If memory services, a lot of the commentaries on the DVD releases feature the people involved in making the specific segments that the commentary was for.

Yeah, I remember most of them being individual segment directors.

My apologies if this has already been posted, but I've trawled this site pretty well over the years and have never seen it.

I have no idea how I managed to find this on YouTube, but it's pretty wild. Apparently the Unsolved Mysteries post-production crew created a video for Christmas 1993 in which they sing-rap about their respective jobs. It clearly was never meant for outside consumption, but thanks to the Internet, here we are.

Robert Erickson seems to have posted the video, who was credited as a segment director for the 1993-94 season.

It would be a little tough to match people in the video to names in the credits, but I think executive producer Raymond Bridgers shows up at 1:44. A Google search uncovers that he went to UNC, and sure enough, that guy is wearing a UNC baseball cap. He also sings about being the "head guy" and rains dollar bills on his doting crew, so this would match up with what I assume executive producers do.

It is truly bizarre to see people having fun and joking around on one of the creepiest and most terrifying shows in TV history that's also about the worst things people do to each other -- but I guess it's still a workplace, and that's what people do at work. It's also what makes this clip hilarious.

I hope posting the link is okay -- it's not an Unsolved Mysteries clip per se, and it's only about three minutes long.

The most interesting thing to me on that video is how young everyone looks. Most of those behind the scenes crew members look like they are in their 20's and 30's while the show has a very Noir look much of the time.

Thought I'd share the lyrics to that special promo, from what I've been able to make out:

It started seven years ago during a strike
John and Terry hit the big time almost overnight
The series they created faltered right off the chart
The critics think it’s corny but we think it is art!

We cut the segments
And fix the host creative
My lame directors
Who give us jack to work with
We’re in the trenches
Deleting all these shots and
I take some footage
The show can’t do without us

We write the segments
All grammar is corrected
We all use big words
The show can’t do without us
We add effects and
We make it all sound lovely
With only footsteps
The show can’t do without us

We do the real work
We get the segments finished
We log the tapes and
The show can’t do wtihout us

I vault the shows and
I’ll find you any tape
Graphics are my bag
I morph the pics together
I take the phone calls
And clean the fridgerator
I’m into colors
And do the telecity

I run a round house
Just like some headless chicken
I drop the scripts off
I get the cream for coffee
I type the host scripts
And file all the pictures
But now I’m leaving
So Tanya to the rescue
We do the onlines
And add the host on camera
With official events
And we don’t charge a fortune

We time the shows out
And jumble lots of paper
I keep a big board
And put it all together
I am the head guy
I keep the players happy
We like the writers
And make it all exciting

All above the action excellent
At CMP
We thank you John and Terry

And for the health plan
I still don’t understand it
We love the paint job
Here gives a real terrific

And for the season,
Three cheers for John and Terry
From all at post we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Years
And here’s to season 7!
