Kimberly only appeared in two Season 7 episodes as she had left the show as a regular cast member. I know Arnold missed a few Season 7 episodes because of some health related issues. I don't know about Maggie.

Maybe they had already released Dixie Carter (a mistake, IMO). Nothing against Mary Ann Mobley--I just don't think she was right for the part. Although I think she overacted in the Sam's Missing episodes.

Mary Ann Mobley truly seemed like a really nice lady in real life, and her take on Maggie was more traditionally maternal and "pleasant" than Dixie Carter's interpretation. But Mary Ann's Maggie lacked Dixie's charisma, swagger, and comedic timing. It seemed like Mary Ann Mobley's version was more or less the saintly housewife and not the sexy, witty, strong woman that Dixie Carter played prior.

I agree with thebigcookie I always figured that's why Gary Coleman was missing because of his Health Problems when he came back after missing a few episodes he changed a lot and put on a few pounds compared to the earlier episodes of season 7.
