Fox News announced Wednesday that it has parted ways with its top-rated host, Bill O'Reilly, in the midst of a spiraling sexual harassment scandal. According to a statement from the network, O'Reilly's departure is "effective immediately."

"After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O'Reilly have agreed that Bill O'Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel," parent company 21st Century Fox said in a statement.

Beginning Monday, the day O'Reilly was scheduled to return from a two-week vacation, Tucker Carlson will take over O'Reilly's 8 p.m. timeslot. "The Five" will move into Carlson's previously-held 9 p.m. slot beginning Monday.

The only reason why they canned O'Reilly is because the sponsors pulled out not because of some moral imperative. The investigation just gave them cover. They should have fired him after the incident where they had to pay the woman $9 million. She had voice mail recordings of him being nasty.

I stopped watching Fox News around 2008 I believe. I just never cared for it, and I always thought Bill O'Reilly came across as an arrogant jerk anyway.

Ex-Fox News anchor sues Bill O'Reilly for defamation (https://theblast.com/bill-oreilly-defamation-lawsuit-laurie-dhue/)
Laurie Dhue, a Fox News anchor from 2000 to 2008, is the latest O'Reilly accuser to sue for defamation after settling a sexual harassment lawsuit out of court. Dhue is accusing O'Reilly of making false and defamatory statements in an April 2017 New York Times article, which she says violates the terms of her settlement.
