What a weekend it has been for Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs:

The Cleveland Cavaliers survive @ home against Paul George and the Indiana Pacers 109-108

The Milwaukee Bucks def. the Raptors in Toronto 97-83

The San Antonio Spurs BLEW OUT the Memphis Grizzlies 111-82

The Utah Jazz SHOCKS L.A. as they def. the Clippers 97-95 on a Game Winning Buzzer-Beater by Joe Johnson

The Washington Wizards opens up @ home for the very 1st time in 38 years with a Game 1 Victory over their Division Rival Atlanta Hawks 114-107

The Golden State Warriors def. the Portland Trail Blazers 121-109

The Warriors outscored the Blazers 33-21 in CRUNCH TIME

The Bulls gets their 1st victory on the road against the #1 East Seeded Boston Celtics 106-102

and the Houston Rockets BLEW OUT the OKC Thunder 118-87

I saw the Thursday game of the Cavs vs Pacers...The Cavaliers were trailing up until the last minute...will this be their tactic?

The Jazz chances of advancing past the Clippers were already slim, but without Rudy Gobert in the lineup their chances are zero.

If the Spurs win, then they will be following the Cavs.

If the Grizzlies win, then both Raptors-Bucks and Spurs-Grizzlies will be both 2-2.

The Cavs are taking it easy now waiting for the Raptors-Bucks round to finish.

The Clippers-Jazz, Spurs-Grizzlies, Celtics-Bulls and Raptors-Bucks rounds are tied in 2-2, so far...

Cavs swept...looks like the Cavs had a good tactic...not overdoing it in the regular season....

The 2 teams that have met in the NBA Finals for the past couple of years have swept their opponents in the 1st rounds of the playoffs

The Cleveland Cavaliers (who won their 1st NBA Title last year) lead by LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love have swept Paul George and the Indiana Pacers

This is the 2nd straight year that the Cavs have swept their opponents in the 1st round since LeBron's Return in Cleveland and the 1st time in franchise history that the Pacers have been swept in the Playoffs

Meanwhile....

The Golden State Warriors (who won their 1st NBA Title in 40 years 2 years ago) also swept their opponents in a 7-game series for the 3rd time in franchise history

In 1975, they swept Washington and 40 years later, they swept the New Orleans Pelicans lead by Anthony Davis for the 1st round and now, 2 years later, they sweep the Portland Trail Blazers lead by Damian Lillard

This is also the 2nd time that the Blazers have been swept in a Best of 7 Series

18 years ago, the Blazers got swept by the San Antonio Spurs lead by the Twin Towers of David Robinson and Tim Duncan who would go on to win their 1st NBA Title in Franchise History and the 1st ABA team to win an NBA Title

and now, the Cavs will await the winner of the match between the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks while the Warriors await the winner of the match between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Utah Jazz and all 4 teams are tied @ 2 games a piece

The Clippers would LOVE to win this series so they can face the Warriors in a rematch from 2014

So the warriors are the 2nd one to enter the next round while being Kerr-plunked at the same time.

The Raptors and rockets are about to be the next ones to advance.

Will be interesting to see if Utah can give Golden State a run for their money. The Jazz might win a game or two but I fully expect Golden State to win the series. Utah has been playing better on the road than they do at home which is unusual.

Houston vs. San Antonio could potentially be a close series, might go all 7 games. Edge goes to San Antonio. I'll stay with my original prediction that it will be Boston vs. San Antonio in the finals.

Toronto vs. Cleveland has potential to be an interesting matchup, I think Toronto is capable of winning the series but will see what happens.

Cavs trounced the Raptors in the 1st game, looks like LeBron has his sights set on another championship for Cleveland.

Houston has a lot of firepower and when they are hitting their shots they are almost impossible to beat. Series is just getting started, only the 1st game but right now San Antonio looks overmatched. Maybe Tim Duncan should come out of retirement, Spurs look like they could use him. :lol:

Toronto was a challenge for Cleveland during the regular season...but then again, The Utah Jazz of 1997-1998 were a challenge for the Chicago bulls during the regular season at that time.

The Cavs and Warriors are both still unbeatened right now.

Looks like Golden State is probably going to sweep Utah, the Jazz are completely overmatched against them. Utah has talent but they lack a super star type of player, also they have had injury problems all season, seems like someone is always missing from the lineup for one reason or another.

Well I will say this:

This year marks 10 years since the Golden State Warriors lead by Baron Davis started the We Believe Campiegn when they were the #8 seed in the West and they def. the #1 seeded Dallas Mavericks 4-2 1 year after the Mavs came out of a disappointing NBA Finals Loss to the Miami Heat lead by Shaq & Wade

The Warriors def. Mavericks was the 3rd time that the #8 seed UPSET a #1 seed

Nuggets def. the Sonics back in '94 and the Knicks def. the Heat back in '99

and also, this year marks 10 years since the Spurs SWEPT the Cavs lead by LeBron James and that's the last time we saw a SWEEP in the Finals and Tony Parker became Finals MVP

Spurs and Celtics lead their own series. But the Spurs-Rockets Game 6 is tonight and Celtics-Wizards Game 6 is tomorrow night.

OK, Game 7 for the Wizards-Celtics round at Boston this Monday Night!

I think San Antonio is capable of beating Golden State but whether Boston or Washington can beat Cleveland is more questionable. At the moment, my hope/prediction for a Boston/San Antonio final is still possible.

Cleveland seems to have played the regular season in cruise control/idle mode, now they are stepping on the gas, I don't like that strategy and consider it a form of cheating but I guess it's not against the rules so nothing can be done about it.

Also, Stephanie Curry has to be the most annoying player in the NBA because he always lets his mouth guard hang loose. It's an annoying and disgusting habit, it looks stupid and the NBA shouldn't allow him to do it, but he's a star player in the league so of course they let him get away with it. :rolleyes: Just one time I'd like to see an opposing player slap that damn thing out from his mouth and knock it to the floor. :lol:

If the Spurs recover from that one I'll be impressed.

I think the Spurs were on the way to winning today but when Leonard went out with the injury it messed them up. Oh well that's the way it goes in sports, injuries happen. Hopefully the injury isn't serious and Leonard can play in the next game and remainder of the series. If not, then the Spurs have a problem because they likely won't advance past the Warriors if Leonard isn't able to play.

The last time Cavs played a game was back on May 7th, now they soon know who which team can challenge them in the Eastern Finals.

So it's Cavs vs Celts tomorrow night.

I agree, but the Celtics earned #1 Eastern spot ahead of time, that's the reason. At least I see all 7 home games of the Wizards-Celtics round very interesting and convincing enough.

Celtics win the NBA draft lottery, so they can win the title this year AND have the number one pick. (Thanks, Brooklyn).

What was impressive about the Wizards and Celtics was this:

The Wizards have stayed undefeated @ home in the postseason with a record of 6-0

However, the Wizards have only won 1 road game in the postseason this year and that was Game #6 on the road in Atlanta against the Hawks to close out the series

The Celtics have also NEVER won a game in Washington, D.C. against the Wizards and that's very interesting

The Celtics have also won 1 home game this postseason against the Bulls as both the Bulls and Celtics had a combine total of 5 road wins which is unheard of these days

But hopefully, the Celtics will do better this year against the Cavs and as much as I like and respect Brad Stevens, he better come up with a game plan if they wanna go back to the NBA Finals for the 1st time in 7 years

I no longer think the Celtics will be in the finals this year because they were handed the 1st pick in the draft (I've always thought the NBA draft lottery is rigged because the NBA favors certain teams and the small market teams always get screwed) and that is their prize this time instead of playing in the finals. Looks like the NBA has set the Celts up to be strong finals candidates for next year. And of course the Lakers were handed the 2nd pick, god forbid if the Lakers continue losing 50 plus games every year, and now that Magic Johnson is in charge of things it's going to be mandatory that the Lakers become a force again. :rolleyes:

I could see Gordon Hayward leaving Utah to join Boston and his former college coach Stevens. Will see what happens with that.

Not looking good for the Spurs being down 0-2 to Golden State and Leonard out due to injury. If the finals are CLE/GS for the 3rd straight year, as I said before I won't be watching.

I think that had Rajon Rondo not got hurt in the 1st round, the Bulls would've swept the Celtics in the 1st round

I also wanted to see another Warriors/Clippers Series and the last time, these 2 teams played each other in the playoffs was 3 years ago in 2014 and the Clippers had home court advantage, but also, they def. the Warriors in 7 games and that was also when the Warriors fired Mark Jackson as the Head Coach and Steve Kerr went from commentary on TNT to Head Coach of the Warriors

I still think that Phil Jackson should've hired Mark Jackson as Head Coach of the Knicks and NOT Derek Fisher who has NO coaching experience whatsoever

I, personally would rather see other teams next season in the NBA Finals

Not looking good for the Spurs being down 0-2 to Golden State and Leonard out due to injury. If the finals are CLE/GS for the 3rd straight year, as I said before I won't be watching.

I won't doubt the NBA will bring back the Lakers/Celtics rivalry back-up again since Boston and Los Angeles are larger markets than Cleveland and The Bay District which consists of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose.

My wish would have been to have Boston and San Antonio in the finals, that isn't happening now but oh well that's the way it goes sometimes. Nashville is playing in the NHL finals and I'm happy about that.

Can someone explain why Boston was somewhat competitive in Cleveland, but lost every game at home by a margin approaching the national debt?

Lebron has help, he constructed his own roster, he recruited half those players; he has the second most stacked and talented team in the entire NBA. He rested so much of the regular season to prepare for the playoffs. Everything he's wanted, he's gotten, so there is NO excuse for him and his team to be demolished by Golden State like they are now.

As a leader, it is his job to make sure his team is ready and able to play.
All year his team's defense has been bad, and much of that can be pointed to Lebron's poor leadership. How do you expect your team to perform when you insult them, criticize them, miss games, and on the games you do play, don't play good defense?

When you run a garbage "system" when 2 players are required to hold the ball and are tasked to make plays for everyone, where you only pass the ball to players only when theyre open, they will never get into a rhythm.

Look at all these shots Kyrie makes, all isolation isolation isolation. No way in hell this Cavs team plays good defense, and they can't even construct an offense that can get easy looks so of course they can't compete with the Warriors. Thats what you have when you have Lebron, an uncoachable diva, on your team.

Anyone can come up short in the last 2 minutes of a game, that's no big deal, but this Cavs team never had a chance with their piss poor defense and all the open looks they have given up and will continue to give up in this series, and all that falls on Lebron's garbage "leadership"

Is Golden State stacked? Sure. But a well-coached, disciplined team that plays good defense can compete with a team like that, such as the San Antonio Spurs who were up 23 until Kawhi got injured, and none of those things describe Lebron's Cavs this season.

Thinking back to those late 1980's days, the Cavs squad of 1988-89 really should have had a better fate. They were statistically better than the Pistons that year, although it was Detroit winning the division over Cleveland by 6 games. The Cavs ended up with the misfortune of playing the Bulls in the playoffs, that series is where Michael Jordan started to get his reputation and the NBA and rest of the world found out just how fierce and competitive Jordan was going to be.

The Lakers still ruled the West that season, the Jazz statistically were the best defensive NBA team in 88-89 with an awesome starting lineup but their bench wasn't very strong. A flashy Warriors team with firepower on offense surprised Utah in the playoffs and bounced them out in the first round.

The late 1980's/early 1990's were good years for the NBA, lots of exciting competitive basketball unlike todays league with the same two teams having dominance for three straight years. :rolleyes:
