Mom and I bought some Hostess Cup Cakes yesterday so we could have them for our Friday Night snacks and when we ate one of them we were shocked to discover that the chocolate of the Cup Cakes tasted different and the white frosting tasted dry and when my mom and I discovered this we returned the Hostess Cup Cakes and exchanged them for Little Debbie Easter snack cakes and it makes me think that Hostess is making all their snack cakes have a different taste now? My mom and I have been fans of Hostess snack cakes for a long time and we are shocked that Hostess has done this to it's snack cakes?
Has anyone who has brought Hostess snack cakes noticed this? And is there an another snack cake brand that compares to Hostess?

I'm gonna buy some today and see if that's the case.
If so...time to find a new snack cake.

Ever since Hostess went belly up and then reemerged, their products have never tasted the same to me.

My brother used to work for them locally in Tacoma until they laid him off from his foreman job and basically screwed everybody several years ago. He was NOT happy, and has a few things to say about their business practices and the quality of their product. Since they come from the middle of the country now instead of being shipped here locally, he says they taste stale. I wouldn't know, I haven't eaten them in ages, nor do I care to.

I think the Hostess snacks taste the same if not better than they did before. And their fruit pies are now packaged in boxes instead of that flimsy paper wrapping. Much better.

I bought the Twinkies, Ho-Hos, Ding Dongs and Cupcakes and I agree...I need to try their fruit pies. Maybe if I visit my dad sometime and ride the bus, I might get some of those pies...only because there's a bakery store near him.

Anything that can sit on the shelf for weeks or months isn't worth eating. I buy my cake in a bakery or I don't eat cake.

The last time I ate a twinkie was 25 years ago, after not eating one for 10 years prior to that and I thought it tasted awful. I can't imagine now with frutose flavoring what they taste like. I somewhat think of hostess stuff as kiddie food. I cut back on sugar so much.
