I'm wondering about fictional towns in tv series (sitcoms but also dramas, ecc). I think that the setting has a great importance in a tv show, because is the 'summa' of the characters and the themes.

Which one are your favorites? Where you'd dreamed to live, stay, or took a spot in your heart?
Also, which one best define the mood and theme of the show itself?

Hooterville, NoKnownState, but it has an elevation at the train station. /Petticoat Junction/ was my first exposure, and the general friendliness of the people, with some being more goofey than others, I think I can bear. The small town over big cities will always have a home for me. When CBS killed off every series that had a tree in it (thank you, Pat Butram), that proved to me that suits are not wise.

To live I'd choose Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls)! Also Capeside (Dawson's Creek) was very nice!

The mood of the series were also perfectly captured in Twin Peaks, Lanford (Roseanne) and Dillon (Friday Night Lights), but I wouldn't live there (except Twin Peaks without the "paranormal activities" :crazy: )

I agree with you the setting of a good TV show is very important,and also the time period when the TV show was made. Here's just one example. I think one of the reasons a show like Leave it To Beaver for instance has been and continues to be so appealing to so many is because of it's setting and that it was made during a much more relaxed, simple time.

Mayfield. Mayberry but mainly in black and white.For some reason Mayberry looks and even feels better in black and white. Raytown has a good atmosphere,even though the show Mamas Family was made mostly during the 1980s,for some reason to me it has a small town 1970s feel to it,and I like that.I don't know the name of it but I also like the town and setting in Dobie Gillis.There are others but those are 4 of my favorites.

Maybe that's one of the reason I love tv series -and especially their setting- from my childhood. The fantastic sense of safety and calm.

Runner up would be Upper Arlington ,Ohio the fictional home of the Keatons in Family Ties. Upper Arlington is a beautiful town with wonderful homes right next to Columbus, Ohio.I live a few miles from there.

For me, my favorite is Babylon 5. ST:TOS was a leader, they got arrows in their back, but by mid 1990s, the current ST franchises were almost sleeping pills in comparison.

The fictional town where these houses are located has been given different names (like Cocoa Beach, Hilldale, and Mayfield) but I like to think of it as simply TV Land, USA! Just to live beside any of the families that lived there would be amazing!
