I was about to take-out the recycling then my boss said I had to clean the table in the conference room. I told him I cleaned it yesterday, he said "Clean It No Matter What"!
That grinds my gears because that means I didn't do a good job and no one was used it yesterday!
That proves I've got to get a new job and if he has to talk to me...I'm telling him I'm resigning!
Has anyone had to reclean something despite being clean already?

Yeah. I work as an elderly care giver and sometimes the lady will make me clean something I already did . And I know it's fine, but she insists I missed spots or something! But she's old and just in a bad mood , but she' my boss so I just grin and bear it and clean it again! It passes time and I just make this face behind her back!
:D
Yeah sometimes you have do things that seem pointless but since they're paying you, you have to do it, unless you can afford to quit.

^^THIS! You have to learn to play the game and not take every order so personally. Jobs are hard to find and there's no guarantee another one will be better.
OH Nuts!

Ditto. Sometimes bosses ask you to do dumb things. It's not personal. Fortunately I'm well paid so if I'm asked to do something dumb, I just do it and cry all the way to the bank.

Yep. I used to get asked to do all sorts of mindless, thankless junk at my former job, and honestly, I often wish I had it back (or at least the security it provided).
Like everybody else said, I rarely put up a fight because ultimately, he or she was the boss and I worked for them. I fantasized all the time about quitting, but never did because there weren't any great alternatives. Then, of course, the entire facility closed so everything was moot.
I'd grit my teeth a bit; think of the cost of quitting versus the cost of just smiling and saying you'll do what he says. It's probably not worth it.

Thanks...I thought I was the only one.
But I think it's time for me to find a job that I can be more creative than be with one where a pastor can't preach a sermon out of a paper bag...
