I've blind bought quite a few TV shows. Here are some of my experiences:

3rd Rock From The Sun - Being somewhat of an optimist , I held out hope that I was going to like the show. I went to Walmart and bought the whole series for $30.00. I watched the first episode and found that I did not enjoy the show. I was a bit irritated that I spent $30.00 on a TV show that I didn't even like.

Mork And Mindy - Another show that I was hoping to get into. I bought season 1 and watched a few episodes and found it to be only slightly funny. But something happened that made me come to dislike the show. If you notice , I tend to dislike "alien" sitcoms , which might explain why I hate Mork And Mindy

Mannix - I never saw this show , but I decided to give it shot. I bought seasons 2 and 4. I watched it and found that I actually enjoyed it. One of my favorite crime dramas

I blindly bought and ended up liking Lotsa Luck, That's My Mama and The Stockard Channning Show. The Stockard Channing Show DVD ended up being two different shows (Stockard Channing In Just Friends and The Stockard Channing Show).

I also blindly bought and ended up disliking Buffalo Bill and Madame's Place. Even though I didn't like them I don't regret buying either one.

That's about it. I have bought several that I had only seen one or two episodes of though, and bought based on that.

More and Mindy and I ended up liking it just as I thought I would.

i i recived season 1 of the unbreakable kimmy schmidt as a birthday gift last year even thought i had never seeb the show before but i kent that tina fey had written it and i am a fan of ellie kemper so i gave it a try and its one of the funniest shows that i have watched in a long time :lol: in fact i enjoyed it so mucg that i plan on getting the season 2 dvd soon

Square Pegs. It always came up in discussions of quirky-funny shows. I haven't really run into it in reruns. The single season was $6.00 on Amazon, so no great loss, but I only watched a couple episodes before putting it away.

I don't blind buy, but I was given a DVD of Joan Rivers' "That Show" after she died from a family member. I liked Joan a lot when I was in school (read one of her books, watched her show on FOX), but I couldn't get into this show at all.

If you've never seen it --
In each episode, Joan comes out and does a monologue (which usually includes an unnecessary fat joke about herself) and then she and her panel talk about the "theme" of the day. Some of the themes are furs, ski fashion, wallpaper and men's shirts. Yes, a whole show on men's shirts! Very boring. Even when the themes are semi-interesting (nudism), the conversations never take off and when they do start to go somewhere Joan cuts the guest off for a commercial and never returns to what the person was saying. You can tell it was her first show. She did have good guests though - Johnny Carson, Florence Henderson, Vivian Vance.

I was looking for a non-sitcom tv series, something retro (70s or 80s) with lots of outdoor locations. I ended up blind-buying "Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries". Was not disappointed at all - such a great series that I ended up buying the second season too.

Believe it or not, this is exactly the way I feel about Have Gun, Will Travel through one season's worth!

Most of my tv purchases were blind-buy.
Of them I've loved Frasier, Twin Peaks, Friday Night Lights, Hill Street Blues, Deadwood.
I mildly enjoyed Bones, Arrested Development and I would buy them again.
I didn't like Cheers, Community and I wouldn't buy them again.

Of the blin-buys, I've yet to see: Northern Exposure, West Wing, Rescue Me, My So-Called Life and Everwood.

The theme song was a disappointed, the show was not funny because of Clifton Davis.

The only small appeal of the show was JUNIOR who was only seen when he had something to report

A while back, I blind bought season one of Knight Rider (KR) and Xena Warrior Princess (XWP). KR was pathetic, but XWP hooked me for the remaining five seasons, although some of the latter season's menu features is proof of Industrial Sabotage.

I'd agree with you pretty much all the way on that first go of Knight Rider, with one exception: the late first-season outing called "Knight Moves," OAD Mar. 11, 1983 on NBC. That's one of my favorites, and one I keep going back to, for reasons unknown.

One, the girl was not a direct slave to some bulley.
Two, it had a western Trucker motif.
Interesting Allusion to John Wayne's /The Alamo/.
But still am annoyed at that stupid, useless counter to the threat driving assault.

I actually went on a limb and bought Dexter season 1 years ago when it first came out. I didn't have cable at the time. Well I ended up loving the series and couldn't wait for the next season to come out. One of the best blind buys I've made was that.

I tried the same thing with Hogan's Heroes. I found season 1 at a flea market for dirt cheap. It gave me some laughs for being a clean comedy show. It just didn't scream get the rest like Dexter did.

I have blindly bought some movies on VHS I hadnt seen before and Ill list some and what I think

1) DOA (1988) - Excellent but confusing.... Did someone really give him something to make him die within 24hrs or did they just say they did to get a reaction from him??

2) Blind Vengeance (1990) - This was crappy.... A TV movie that just wasnt that good...

3) One flew over the cookoos nest (1975) - EXCELLENT!! (I hadnt ever seen it)

4) The Island (1980) - Excellent!!

5) Airport (1970) - EXCELLENT!!

6) You only live twice (1967) - EXCELLENT!!

7) Octopussy (1983) - EXCELLENT!!

Dude, I see a pattern: The "excellent" movies are old.

However, I like the imagery of the 2017 Wonder Woman, but the DC Comics buggering of 1987, turning her into a super hero who can fly, went over the top of credibility.

I blind-bought NewsRadio Seasons 1 and 2 without seeing a single episode and like it, and I also blind-bought Wings Seasons 1 and 2 without seeing a single episode and liked that. And I later got Wings the complete series.

Got that Streets of San Francisco CBS condensed all-in-one back in July, because I wanted to pick up where I left off from that first-season, first-volume release that I had a long time ago of this 1972-77 ABC police/detective series. Believe it or not, Karl Malden really made this series in his lead role of Lt. Mike Stone, 20-year+ veteran of the SFPD in its homicide department. He was quite riveting, so much so that Streets has been one of the series I've gotten that I've seen through in full (only a few have had that distinction for me lately). This isn't to discount the parts that Michael Douglas and Richard Hatch played, but, IMO, Karl could invigorate even the weakest fifth-and-final-season Hatch episode, he was that good!

The packaging of the version I got, however, left something to be desired. It had quite a few mini-spindles, most holding 3 discs apiece; I think the last one had two. That got quite irritating to me, because I had to take several discs out (and make sure the playing surfaces were up), find the one I wanted, and put the others back how they were. Of course, in the grand scheme of things, that was an annoyance I could live with, as good as this Streets show was!

I was shopping for DVDs and blindly gave Shameless a shot, if nothing else, William H. Macy.

Where I lived, there used to be a lot of DVD stores. Unfortunately they have died out. I bought "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" without knowing anything about it. Amazing film, I never laughed so hard in my life.

Somebody suggested The Larry Sanders Show--only saw a little but couldn't get into it. Should try again, I guess, since I've always like It's Garry Shandling's Show.

We used to have several DVD stores, but now only a few big stores ("big stores" :== ned to pack a lunch to go from the front of the store to the back corner...) have a puny DVD section. I have been desperately searching for:

/The Beverly Hillbillies/ Season 5 recently released, but nobody in this big town has it.

/Northern Exposure/ has nice teasers

Shakespeare's /As You Like It/ by Branaugh, his /Hamlet/ is a keeper

/Hercules the Legendary Journeys/ season 6 have the other seasons and all of /Xena/

/Donna Reed/ s6 should still have some of "Mary" before Shelley Fabares sought greener pastures

Still, I got the BBC miniseries of /Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy/ so I did not go away empty handed. That is funnier than the recent movie, although I understand that the movie is closer to the book.

Yes, I frequently have been unable to find DVDs in stores. Amazon to the rescue!

BTW Donna Reed S6 thru 8 are owned by Sony, which has not released them. The Owen estate owns the first 5 seasons, but ownership changed to Screen Gems thereafter, when Reed negotiated changes to the contract (she wanted a reduced work schedule). You can actually see these changes in the original small print at the beginning of the episodes, with the first 5 seasons copyrighted to Todon of Calif., and the last 3 seasons copyrighted to Screen Gems.
