Remember in Season 5 when Roseanne decides to take in David because she sees the way his mother treats him? Does anybody think that David's mom was maybe an alcoholic or drug addict?

We don't see a lot of her, but remember when Darlene was at David's house and she came in late? David asks where she's been and says that his dad was looking for her. I can't remember what she said exactly, but it seemed like she was lying. I always figured she was an unstable drunk.

Also remember that David's parents were getting a divorce and David's dad took the two younger sisters with him, implying the mom was unfit.

Didn't the mother send David and Mark money at one stage? This was in the much later episodes.

I also thought that Mark and David's mom was portrayed as very possibly an addict. Whatever the case, the mom was abusive and unfit.
