Think of the sitcoms that CBS ran around the same time the show started - within a season or so - All in the Family,Jeffersons,Maude,Mary,Rhoda, MASH, Alice, Bob Newhart,Good Times and in the middle of all that is well written sitcom of a single divorced mother raising two teen-age girls...

...a nice comfortable sitcom in the middle of these groundbreaking and award winning shows. It doesn't hit you over the head with the heavy stuff - although we did get some on and behind the camera (some due to Mac's issues) - it's a comfortable show to enjoy for a half hour.

This is why it was a hit for 9 seasons - even with Mac's issues and cast changes.

The Show worked.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but I only watched for one reason.
