LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - The FOX network, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this season, doesn't have the extensive library of its rivals to draw upon for sweeps programming. But it's still found a way to tap into the reunion-show trend.

The network will air a "M*A*S*H" reunion special on Friday, May 17, celebrating the hit show that went off the air nearly four years before FOX broadcast its first signal. FOX was able to get the special thanks to its corporate sibling, 20th Century Fox Television, which produced the series.

The special joins an ever-growing list of sweeps events
celebrating past shows, including retrospectives on "The
Honeymooners," "Laverne & Shirley" and CBS' Television City studio complex, as well as NBC's 75th anniversary celebration.

"M*A*S*H," which followed the exploits of an Army surgical unit during the Korean War, aired on CBS from 1972-83. Its final episode drew the highest rating -- 60.2 -- in TV history.

The reunion will feature all the surviving members of the cast, including Alan Alda, Mike Farrell, Wayne Rogers, Harry Morgan, Loretta Swit and Gary Burghoff. Interviews with the cast will be mixed in with clips and segments featuring real doctors who
served in Korea.

So fans of the 4077, what did you think of the big reunion special?

I really liked the way they had the cast sitting around trading stories and quips about the show.
The tributes to Larry Linville and McLean Stevenson were very nice too.

I was surprised to see Alan Alda taking part in the show. I thought he had some longtime fued going with FOX over the syndication money, which is why he wasn't in the other FOX "Truth Behind The Sitcoms" show about M*A*S*H.

Anyway, it was a great special. Who else caught it?

I did! I thought it was well done too! I'm especially impressed with how well the actors and creators knew the series after so many years. Also it was nice to see how well they all get along.
