I don't see any thread for this sitcom. Maybe it is not a sitcom. I would not know for sure since I hardly watch TV anymore. However I might have seen some scenes from Big Bang Theory when I visited a friend and her TV was on.
It looks like a lot of the TV sitcoms that have been around for several years, about people who are slightly older than college age.
It seems that sexual encounters are a big part of the plots in a lot of these sitcoms.
However I found an online article stating that the show is going through a downward spiral.
I actually dont know how long BBT has been on the air, but does anyone know if it is jumping the shark and how?
Are the jokes getting un-clever and un-funny and are the plots getting boring and is it hard to know what to think of the characters, whether they should change from being the always-same people they always were, or whether they have changed too much so that they are not the same people who made the show somehow good?

It would be interesting to hear about a modern day show and how it is not what it used to be and it is time to take it off the air.

I mostly have heard about shows of the 70s jumping the shark.

I mentioned this is a different thread but my friend told me that Big Bang Theory is a good TV show because the actors are really so good in it.

For many years it was the best sitcom on television. It still might be but I haven't watched any current tv shows since last fall so who knows. I know I never used to miss an episode but I've been missing a lot lately.

The current week's episode was one of the worst that I have seen. The show was at their peak in the early seasons. When it started getting stale they were able to add new characters that actually worked and it held up for a few more seasons.

Now with the characters aging and the "its all been done before" syndrome they have to stretch things thin, but with episodes dropping down to like 18 minutes to 19 minutes it has become more and more of a skit that ties in to other episodes than a full stand alone episode.

CBS needs the show to help establish new sitcoms so it will run 2 more years with a full plan for the show to end after that.

My main fault with the show is that while Sheldon and Amy are a perfect match, the other guys get impossibly hot girlfriends/wives. I guess they had to put Penny with Leonard with the show running so long. I would have made her his unattainable object of desire. That would seem much more real than the route they went.

The show is now becoming the later seasons of "Friends" in a lot of ways. I'm not so sure it is "shark jumping" as it is worn thin.

I don't know about them being that good, they're being paid to read off lines. Outside of the show I don't think they can carry another TV series.
