Can someone please explain this to me?

In the episode where Becky tells Roseann she wants to go on BC pills.......when Becky, Roseann and Jackie are in the doctor's waiting room ........Jackie says to Becky, "Be sure to leave your socks on", or something to that effect. The line got a lot of laughs, but it went over my head. Can anyone explain? Thanks.

When you're in the gynecologists office you have to remove all your clothes and put on a paper thingy, they were joking with her to keep her socks on so she wouldn't be cold. How could you not get that?

Actually, I wondered about that, too. I didn't realize it was an issue of being cold. Thought maybe a girl wearing her socks felt less nekkid or somethin'..........
